The Paper Players 456

I think that sketch challenges are my favourites and I was very taken with this morning's offering at The Paper Players.

I wanted to create something that looked like a peephole into an aquarium. This is what I came up with.

To create the water, I started with a circle of shimmery cardstock and sponged it in three colours: Blueberry Bushel, Pretty Peacock and Seaside Spray. Then I spritzed it with a fine mist of water. Once it was dry, I stamped over it using a stamp from Artisan Textures in Pretty Peacock and Seaside Spray and added the sand stamp from Seaside Notions using silver and stamping it vertically.

The rest was straight forward. The seaweed, shells and seahorse were coloured with a mixture of Stampin' Blends and fussy cut. The white card base was textured with the Pinewood Planks embossing folder. The frame was cut from Crumb Cake using the Layering Circle Framelits.

Great sketch, Laurie! Thank you!

Update: Delighted to be a Cut Above at The Paper Players.

  1. Jan what a gorgeous card! So much effort has gone into building the inky layers of that circle, but so worth it - it looks so realistic! I had convinced myself that I didn’t need this set, but every card you make with it makes me love it more! I like the diecut behind too - it looks like shells, very clever. A great take on the Paper Players sketch this week!
