The Paper Players 416 - Design Team Card

Welcome to a new challenge at The Paper Players! This week, Ann Marie has a fabulous sketch for us to play with. It's very versatile. I know this, having made two completely different looking cards with it and having to choose which one to submit! I hope you also have many creative ideas for it.

I took a couple of liberties with the sketch, turning the small square into a circle and adding some embellishments to it. But what is a sketch but a starting point - as long as the idea can still be seen.

Petal Palette is my favourite sets from last year's Occasions catalogue and I've not used it of late. It's got such a lot of lovely sentiments so I selected one as the basis for my card. The rest built up around it.

The Chicken Wire is straight from this year's Holiday Catalogue and is fabulous for both card makers and scrapbookers. Here, I've used it as one of the rectangles in the sketch and I like the airy feel it gives, while the silver adds a touch of romantic elegance.

I'd love to see what you do with the sketch - and so would the rest of the team. Pop over to The Paper Players and see what the rest of the team have done.

Retro Rubber Challenge 98 - Design Team Card

This week at Retro Rubber Challenge, we have an inspiration challenge for you. Have a look at this photo and make us a new project that is inspired by something in this picture. It could be the colours, the objects, the textures, the theme. Whatever you see. The only thing you have to keep in mind is that since this is Retro Rubber, you need to use at least one stamp that's older than a year and tell us the approximate age of it.

When I had a good look at the inspiration picture, the background looked like it had been made with Brusho. Since I'd been playing with Brusho today, I took that as a sign and made myself a brusho-ed piece of water-colour paper using gamboge, brilliant red, yellow and mossy green, which picked up many of the colours in the picture. I also saw that there were some autumn leaves in the picture. So here's where I ended up.

I die cut the leaves from the Brusho-ed paper. The dies are from Seasonal Layers, the coordinating set for Colourful Seasons. I usually poke out all the bits from the leaf die but on this occasion, I decided to leave some bits in, leaving more as I moved down the page to suggest that some leaves were more dead that the others. That's also why the colours move from green-ish to red as we move down towards the sentiment.

In behind, I've used the tattered lace from Touches of Texture (2016-17 Annual Catalogue) to add some interest. The sentiment is from Floral Phrases (2016-17 Annual Catalogue).

You've got until 2 November to join up at Retro Rubber Challenge and show us what you saw in the inspiration photo. Remember - you need to use at least one stamp older than a year AND give us an approximate age for it (them).

Just Add Ink 431

This week, the team at Just Add Ink have this great sketch for us.
It seemed to be begging for a great die cut for the main element. The most fabulous die cut I have is the Detailed Dragonfly set, so that was the starting point.

Cut in Sparkle glimmer paper and under-layered in black, it seemed so glamorous and elegant that a congratulations card built up around it.

I used some of the marvellous Chicken Wire element and some silver embossing to add to the elegant feel. The black panel and the white strip have been embossed with the Subtle textured embossing folder.

The Paper Players 415 - Design Team Card

Welcome to Joanne's Clean and Simple Theme week challenge. This week at The Paper Players, Joanne has chosen apples as her theme.

Apples. So many ideas around them: the temptation in the Garden of Eden, an apple for the teacher, an apple a day keeps the doctor away, even a computer brand! Even with all these ideas, I had to hunt the stamp stash to find an apple. Finally I thought of the tiny apple stamp that was part of Thoughtful Branches.

That got me to making this apple tree, with one apple off to the side for the patient, along with get well wishes. It's grounded on a little strip of DSP from the Neutrals DSP pack.

I'd love to see what you make of this theme. Don't forget that as it's Clean and Simple week that you also have to keep the design uncluttered with open space, minimal layers and minimal embellishments.
  1. Create a new paper project.
  2. Upload your project to your blog with a link back to The Paper Players.
  3. Provide a direct link to your blog post for your challenge entry.
  4. Please link your card to no more than FOUR challenges (including ours).
  5. Enjoy!
Please take note of these few rules as entries that do not comply will be deleted from the gallery.

Pop over to The Paper Players and see what the rest of the team have done with these delicious colours.
