Rooted in Nature for Fab Friday 171

As I was wrapping up my father-in-law's Father's Day present this afternoon, I realised that none of the many cards in my stash would do for this darling man. We're having an early family dinner tonight for him so I had to get cracking on the job.

Inspiration came from this morning's challenge at Fab Friday.

He's a man who loves trees and gardens so I turned to my old favourite, Rooted in Nature. The skeleton leaves are my favourite images (I think...) from my favourite set. The sky was created by a happy intersection between shaving cream, Balmy Blue re-inker and an acrylic block.

I've highlighted the Pinewood Plank by swiping white pigment ink over it lightly. The triple-layered 'happy' has a coating of clear Wink of Stella. The bow embellishment in the sketch has been replaced by a pair of Leaves trinkets.

I'm sure my FIL will love this card but I guess I'll find out at tonight's dinner. 😀

As You See It 208 - Design Team Card

It's week 2 of our rotation schedule at As You See It Challenge, so that makes it colour week.

These colours got me thinking marine, so I turned to Seaside Notions. This sweet little set has a number of marine images, including the shells, seaweed and gorgeous seahorse, as well as a number of useful sentiments. The images lend themselves to colouring so I've used Mango Melody and Pretty Peacock Stampin' Blends.

The seaweed is stamped in a mixture of Coastal Cabana and Pretty Peacock, then sponged lightly with Coastal Cabana.

I took further inspiration for this card from the sketch at Inspire.Create.Challenge. You can play along with them until 1 September.

Butterfly Gala for CAS Colours and Sketches 336

It turns out that this week is Great Sketch Week! CAS Colours and Sketches also have a great sketch on offer this week.

Here's what I did with it, using Butterfly Gala with a bit of help from Very Versailles.

The butterflies are embossed in copper and sponged with a hint of Petal Pink, popped up on dimensionals with their wings free.

The copper mat layer has been embossed with the Scripty folder to add some texture. I'm loving this new embossing folder with its romantic and vintage feel.
