Down by the Seaside

I am really loving the Sketchabilities sketches! Very often the sketch excites me so that I spend time at work thinking about it and itching to get on with it.
Here is the lovely sketch 111.

And here is my take on it, using photos from our summer holiday at Ohope Beach in January this year. One of the things I'm most pleased about is being able to use actual sand and shells from our holiday in the layout. I sprinkled sand over a wave of impasto under the photo. It's the first time I have used impasto or mixed my own paint colour for a page, so I'm feeling happy with the results.

Supplies used:
Paper: Fabscraps Splashes 1 and Splashes 2, Stampin' Up Island Indigo
Island Indigo stamp pad and buttons.
Stampin' Up French Foliage stamp set for the background splashes
Fabscraps Chipboard title
ioDie 062-F
Cream ribbon
Kitchen string
Sand and shells from the beach
3mm glass beads
impasto, acrylic paints, dimensionals.

Go Cowboy

This page was created in response to Sketchabilities 110, a lovely sketch which took me out of my comfort zone. For the photo I chose a shot of my son on his second birthday, riding his new rocking horse. He loved that horse as a boy but now he is a strapping lad of 20. Almost, but not quite, a heritage page!

Here is the design sketch:

Here is my take on it.
