Botanical Layers for CAS Colour & Sketches 476

The challenge this week at CAS Colours & Sketches is a slimline sketch - just perfect for a play around with my newly acquired Botanical Layers.

I used a Thick Basic White card base, a matte of Garden Green and a card front of Basic White.
Then there's some simple stamping in two generations of Garden Green with the foliage stamp and some different sized blossoms in Crushed Curry.

To lift the Garden Green leaves, I used the Crushed Curry coloured pencil from the Assortment 2 to add in some Crushed Curry touches.

The finishing touches were some Champagne Rhinestones to the centres of the blossoms.

So, a clean and simple thank you slimline card. 😀

Botanical Layers for The Paper Players 597

I used my Stampin' Rewards to buy myself a stamp set with my last order. Did you know that orders over $300 attract Stampin' Rewards: money that can be spent in the order for extra things or the Hostess products? That's why I tell my customers it's better to save up for one big order than to do two or three smaller ones. 😀

Anyway, I used mine to get Botanical Layers. It arrived this week and I'm so glad I picked it! For its first outing, I used the sketch at The Paper Players for inspiration.

In the same order came one of the soon-to-be-available Sale-a-Bration products, the Silver and Gold Specialty DSP. I've used a piece of that for the card front. This gorgeous paper is wonderful by itself but can also be coloured to make it work for any project.

To pick out the gold in the bacground, I've gold embossed the blossoms and the sentiment as well as adding a couple of tiny Brushed Brass Butterfly embellishments.

I do love foliage stamps and I think this set is going to keep me happy for some time! 😀

Artfully Layered for Paper Players 596

I decided to take up the considerable challenge offered by The Paper Players this week. It's CAS week but the added twist is to make a One Layer Card. A tough assignment indeed!

Of all the sets retiring at the end of June with the ending of the January-June Mini Catalogue, the one that I will be saddest to see go is the Artfully Layered bundle. If you don't have it yet, make sure to get it in the Last Chance List: this set is a must have!

I started by simply stamping some foliage in each corner using Old Olive, Pear Pizzazz and Garden Green.
The sentiment (and what a lovely one it is) is stamped in Tuxedo Black.

I used a rectangular mask to sponge in a partial frame in each corner. If you have not used this technique before, I have a video tutorial showing how to do it with a different set. You can find it here.

Then I sponged in some Crushed Curry and added a single Brushed Brass Butterfly.

CAS and one-layer - wasn't sure I could still be this pared back!

Update: Delighted to be A Cut Above at The Paper Players.

Waves of Inspiration for Colour INKspiration 124

Welcome to a new challenge at Colour INKspiration!  This striking colour palette was chosen for us by Crew Member Lou Kitzelman.

If you haven't played with us before, we are a group of Stampin' Up Demonstrators from the South Pacific. Challenges are shown and entered via our Facebook Group page. If you don't belong, and would like to, click here. Don't forget to answer the three easy questions you'll be asked when you ask to join the group.

Each challenge, Top Picks and a winner are chosen by the crew and the winner offered a chance to Guest Design with us for a future challenge, We welcome Kristie Slabbers-Kooltjes as our Guest Designer for this challenge,.

If you don't have an exact challenge colour, feel free to replace it with whatever you have that's closest. - for example Crushed Curry for Daffodil Delight. Black, White, Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake, Sahara Sand and metallics are free colours, as are flesh toned Stampin' Blends.

I thought these colours were such summer colours that I went to Waves of Inspiration for a beach themed card. Using the Stamparatus made creating a multi-hued ocean a breeze. 😂
When I stamped Tahitian Tide over parts of the Parakeet Party, it created an interesting, deep green.

After stamping and then sponging the scene, I trimmed it into strips and mounted them onto a piece of Basic White.

I used some of the new Tahitian Tide Metallic Woven Ribbon to ground the sentiment. Isn't that die cut label just perfect for that sentiment? The ease with which this ribbon frays made it easy to add a lovely tassel to the mix.

I'm keen to see what everyone does with these bright colours.

Visit the Colour INKspiration site to check out the album of Crew Cards for inspiration. You can also add your entry there. We all enjoy seeing what you do with our colour palettes, so join in!
