Merriest Moments for The Paper Players 618

I was happy to play along with The Paper Players this week. I'm still in Christmas mode and do gravitate towards clean and simple, so the challenge was just what I needed to wake up my mojo.

I do love Merriest Moments. Although the dies and hybrid embossing folder let you make all kinds of stunning cards very easily, I really like that the stamps themselves let you do all sorts as well. I feel a little sorry for them, as the less showy elements of the set!

Although this appears to be a very layered card (and I did sneak in a Garden Green matte) it's really only a one layer card at heart.

I used masking paper so I could layer the poinsettia flowers and foliage, then used a second mask to create the faux border at the corners.

If you are interested in learning more about the faux border technique I've used, there's a video tutorial for it in this post in this post using Positive Thoughts.

This is just a quick post to share my tag project made using the Christmas Lights bundle, Brightest Glow set, Tailor Made Tags dies and some resist embossing.

Beautifully Happy for CI 134

Welcome to the latest challenge at Colour INKspiration. This gorgeous palette was chosen for us by Crew Member, Cheryll Miller.

If you haven't played with us before, we are a group of Stampin' Up Demonstrators from the South Pacific. Challenges are shown and entered via our Facebook Group page. If you don't belong, and would like to, click here. Don't forget to answer the three easy questions you'll be asked when you ask to join the group.

Each challenge, Top Picks and a winner are chosen by the crew and the winner offered a chance to Guest Design with us for a future challenge. We welcome Jane Martin as our Guest Designer for this challenge.

If you don't have an exact challenge colour, feel free to replace it with whatever you have that's closest, for example Granny Apple Green  for Parakeet Party. Black, White, Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake, Sahara Sand and metallics are free colours, as are flesh toned Stampin' Blends.

Well,  I know that gorgeous graphic of Cheryll's suggests fun summer parties and Christmas but it also suggested florals to me. Maybe that's because I was excited by the sneak peek Sale-A-Bration 2023 set I received at On Stage in Auckland, which was just begging me to to use it! Beautifully Happy will be available as a free gift with a qualifying purchase from 5 January 2023. It's a beautiful floral set with lovely sentiments as well. You can fill in the outlines with stamps or colour using your choice of colouring tool, so lots of different looks available with this one!

For the first outing of this stamp set, I used the filler stamps to colour the outline image. I liked that the filler was slightly bigger than the outline, so no need to feel bad for going over the lines!

The tiny bee stamp is adorable and I gave her some Wink of Stella stripes. And the splatter stamp... I love a splatter stamp so I can see that I'll be getting quite a lot of use out of this SAB set, especially with the variety of beautiful mixed font sentiments.

We'd love to have you join in the challenge with us. Visit the Colour INKspiration site to check out the album of Crew Cards for inspiration. You can also add your entry there. We all enjoy seeing what you do with our colour palettes, so join in!

A trip to Paris for AYSI 288

It's theme week this week at As You See It and we're asking you to think vacation activities - or holiday activity as we'd say here in New Zealand.

We like to travel and sightsee on our holidays. I have a backlog of scrapbooking opportunities as a result so I got out this picture from our trip to France in 2019, just before the world went mad.

We arrived in Paris at 7am in the morning, and realised it was almost exactly 24 hours since we'd left our house, although according to our calendars we'd arrived the day before we left! Tired as we were, we dropped our bags at the hotel -  after a hair-raising introduction to Parisian driving - and walked along the river bank down to the Eiffel Tower. Then we knew for sure that we'd arrived and I took this photo from almost  underneath it!

When I'm scrapbooking, my desk is even messier than usual as I often draw from many different sets and use different tools. This is no exception!

I started with the Artistic Mix Decorative Masks to create a ground. I chose the trellis to echo the grid work of the tower. I used a blending brush with Mossy Meadow, chosen to go with the green foliage in the photo,

I used Crumb Cake as it was the closest match to the colour of the tower. I used the splatter stamp from Forever Fern and the Parisian postmark stamp from Ranunculus Romance to build the background.

The 'bonjour' I created with the Alphabest set, then used the stamps and punch to create the 'Paris'. For the title, I also punched the same shape in Distressed Gold Specialty DSP to create a highlight. The ribbon backing it is the Natural Finish 2.2cm ribbon that is part of the Abigail Rose suite.

I had some narrow strips of Distressed Gold DSP on my desk from classes earlier in the month and added them in to add the sense of strong vertical, along with metal work and age.

Once I'd laid it all out, the white title needed some balancing, so I added in the postmark in Mossy Meadow and coloured with Crumb Cake in the opposite corner. I used one of the banner dies from Stylish Shapes to create the stitched detail.

So, as you see, scrapbooking - at least mine - is an eclectic mixture!

You can see what the rest of the team have done and link up your own entry at the As You See It page.
