Lights Aglow for Colour INKspiration 132

Welcome to the latest challenge at Colour INKspiration. This tropical palette was chosen for us by Crew Member, Cathy Pinchbeck.

If you haven't played with us before, we are a group of Stampin' Up Demonstrators from the South Pacific. Challenges are shown and entered via our Facebook Group page. If you don't belong, and would like to, click here. Don't forget to answer the three easy questions you'll be asked when you ask to join the group.

Each challenge, Top Picks and a winner are chosen by the crew and the winner offered a chance to Guest Design with us for a future challenge. We welcome Joy Judd as our Guest Designer for this challenge.

If you don't have an exact challenge colour, feel free to replace it with whatever you have that's closest, for example Night of Navy for Starry Sky. Black, White, Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake, Sahara Sand and metallics are free colours, as are flesh toned Stampin' Blends.

These colours didn't quite shout 'Christmas' at me but my As You See It teammate, Heather Cooper from Canada, made a lovely card a while ago using a resist embossed Christmas tree in blues which I really admired. So the three blues in this palette seemed a great chance to try out something similar.

For the first tree, I white embossed the tree image onto Shimmery Cardstock then painted it with the widest waterpainter in Tahitian Tide, Orchid Oasis and Starry Sky.

For the second tree, I cut an outline in the Very Vanilla glimmer paper from the variety pack and stamped the garland over it in Old Olive.

I backed the white card base in Old Olive so it would peep through the circular die cut.

The sentiment is stamped in Starry Sky, die cut and popped up on dimensionals.

We'd love to have you join in the challenge with us. Visit the Colour INKspiration site to check out the album of Crew Cards for inspiration. You can also add your entry there. We all enjoy seeing what you do with our colour palettes, so join in!

Cottage Rose for TGIF390

A quiet Sunday afternoon was the perfect time to continue exploring the Cottage Rose bundle, my latest buy. This time, I used the sketch at TGIF Challenge for inspiration.

In this card, I focussed on using smaller die cuts. There's a lovely foliage branch, which I coloured with Stampin' Blends then die cut. I stamped, coloured then die cut the image of three flowers. It turns out that those flowers fit into the flower shape on the small outline dies, although they got a little lost after I added the sentiment to the cluster. To help them stand out, I've popped the flower up on dimensionals in two cases.

I also tucked in a couple of leaves to add more to the bouquet.  In a separate useful discovery, it turns out that the 'Happy Birthday' fits perfectly into the second largest fishtail banner from Stylish Shapes.

I finished off with some Linen Thread with the end of the bow frayed and a trio of Iridescent Rhinestones because I like how they pick up adjacent colours.

Update: Delighted to be the winner at TGIF Challenge!

Cottage Rose for FMS 557

My latest Stampin' Up! box contained the Abigail Rose suite of products. I'd resisted it for so long, even though it had called to me from the pages of the 2022-23 Annual Catalogue, and now I wonder why I did! It is just so beautiful!

I turned to the latest sketch at Freshly Made Sketches to get me going: it's always a great place for inspiration.

The Abigail Rose DSP is wonderful and I can't wait to use it for some scrapbooking. It was with regret that I cut into the Ledger Page pattern as I so want to use it as a layout base but I like the result so much, I'll live with it. 😀

I stamped onto the Sahara Sand card front using Crumb Cake ink to get the background floral.  Before adding the ledger page DSP, I used the edging die from the Blossoming Happiness set to get the spiral bound detailing,

I stamped and coloured the large floral image in Crumb Cake on Very Vanilla then coloured it with Stampin' Blends. I fussy cut out a second rose to give the bouquet some lift before adding in some of the extra die cut bits of foliage to fill it out.

I stamped the sentiment in Crumb Cake on Very Vanilla and cut it using one of the dies from Labels Aglow dies. Because the die is quite long, I had to trim it down to better fit the sentiment. A trio of Champagne rhinestones finishes it off.

Update: Delighted to be chosen as a Perfect Princess at Freshly Made Sketches.
