Happiness Abounds for Paper Players 593

Today was the day I broke out a new set from my box of 2022-23 Catalogue goodies. It was a new bundle, Happiness Abounds. Despite being a photopolymer set - which I avoid if I can - I got it for the gorgeous images and huge range of sentiments in pretty fonts. Some of my team mates at As You See It also made it seem irresistible, so  I don't think I'll regret it. 😀

I used the challenge at The Paper Players as inspiration to get started. I've gone down the middle with embossing, floral and rhinestones/pearls/dots.

What had intrigued me in the catalogue were the little dies that give decorated edges but when I got the set in my hands, I was very interested in the die that seemed to cut out a lacy pattern. So I used it as the basis of this card.

It was crying out for something interesting to peek out from behind it so I used the Gold and Rose Gold Metallic Specialty DSP. I like that it gives such a textured gold look, yet is remarkably smooth and light weight to use.  I gold-embossed the sentiment to add a further touch of opulence.

This set offers several outline flowers and they were a pleasure to colour with Stampin' Blends. The leaves are stamped directly onto the base and coloured with Granny Apple Green Stampin' Blends.

I'd originally been going to use Champagne Rhinestones to keep the gold theme going but in the end, I used the 2022-24 In Color Matte Dots. Since the Dots of each colour are not uniform but ombre, the softest of the Sweet Sorbet Dots turned out to be a perfect match for the Flirty Flamingo roses.

So the first outing for Happiness Abounds was a simple one, but I think this set suit many styles and techniques and I'm sure there will be much more experimentation in the days ahead.

Blessings of Home for Colour INKspiration 122

Welcome to a new challenge at Colour INKspiration! This challenge is a celebration of Stampin' Up!'s 2022-2024 In Colours: Parakeet Party, Sweet Sorbet, Tahitian Tide, Orchid Oasis and Starry Sky. These crisp new colours will be with us for two years.

For this challenge, you need use a MINIMUM of THREE of the new colours although you can use all five if you want to.

If you haven't played with us before, we are a group of Stampin' Up Demonstrators from the South Pacific. Challenges are shown and entered via our Facebook Group page. If you don't belong, and would like to, click here. Don't forget to answer the three easy questions you'll be asked when you ask to join the group.

Each challenge, Top Picks and a winner are chosen by the crew and the winner offered a chance to Guest Design with us for a future challenge, although there is no Guest Designer for this challenge as we unusually had less than ten entries.

If you don't have an exact challenge colour, feel free to replace it with whatever you have that's closest. - for example Melon Mambo for Sweet Sorbet. Black, White, Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake, Sahara Sand and metallics are free colours, as are flesh toned Stampin' Blends.

These colours are so bright and vibrant! I didn't think that I could, or would use, all five colours but while colouring in this fabulous floral bouquet from Blessings of Home, they all managed to insert themselves into the design!

I used one of the new Split Card Texture dies. This pair of dies is not paired up with any particular stamp set but, as you see, will work with so many sets. I put some Tahitian Tide behind it to give the impression of a bright sky.

The sentiment, stamped in Tahitian Tide, is from the new Seasons of Chic set. This set, is my absolute favourite of the new catalogue, so you'll be seeing plenty of it here in the future!

I like the bright, cheerful nature of these In Colors - I look forward to seeing what everyone makes.

Visit the Colour INKspiration site to check out the album of Crew Cards for inspiration. You can also add your entry there. We all enjoy seeing what you do with our colour palettes, so join in!

Brilliant Wings for AYSI 275

If you play regularly at As You See It, you'll have noticed that we have six types of challenge that rotate throughout the year. It's one of the things that drew me to this challenge site: a variety of challenges, including ones I hadn't seen in other places. We rotate a sketch, a colour combo, a theme, a fill-in-the-blank, a recipe and a speed stamping challenge.

This week, it's Recipe Challenge time. This is one of the challenges I hadn't seen anywhere else. In my head, it's a bit like that old cooking show, Chopped. You get five ingredients that you must use but in any way you like. Interesting, yes?

There's not much stamping in this card, but your Stampin' Cut and Emboss Machine will get a real workout!

Die Cuts or punches: Stitched Rectangle Dies, Forever Flourishing Dies, Brilliant Wings Dies
Embossing Folder: Painted Texture 3D and Bricks and Mortar 3D
Something starting with 'B': Butterflies and Bricks
Subtle Colours: Petal Pink, Soft Sea Foam from the Subtle Colour Family, and Sahara Sand
Something Shiny: Gold Foil, Champagne Rhinestones, Gilded Leaf

You can see here the lovely effect that the gilded leafing adds to the butterflies.

If you'd like to know how I made this card, you can watch the video tutorial here.

Visit the As You See It Challenge site to see what the rest of the team have whipped up with their ingredients and to enter your own creation.
