Global Design Project 140

The challenge at Global Design Project is to CASE designer Brian King's card.

The aspects of Brian's card that I took were: wide border, a dark mat around the centre panel, the layout of the panel and a one-layer centre panel.

I was playing around with the new Rooted in Nature stamp set, which will be available very soon - 1 June - when the new Annual Catalogue goes live. The beautiful image of the lone tree responds so well to direct to rubber colouring as you can see in this close-up. There are two shades of green in the foliage and by putting some extra ink on the trunk, there is even a faux texture to the tree bark.

Ingredients
Paper: Old Olive, Soft Suede, Whisper White
Stamps: Rooted in Nature
Inks: Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, Stampin' Write markers in Soft Suede, Old Olive and Mossy Meadow.

The Paper Players 395 - Design Team Card

There were some amazing entries in last week's CAS Blooms challenge. I loved looking at them all and it was lovely to see so many of my favourites getting a shout out from one team member or another. This week at The Paper Players, LeAnne has a sketch challenge for us.

For this sketch, I've gone back to the suite I bought during On Stage, Nature's Poem. I love those leaf images which appear in the DSP and the stamp set.

I took inspiration from the DSP and copper embossed some of the leaves onto vellum and Mint Macaron and cut them out. The cross-section of log is done in stamped off Cajun Craze and then fussy cut.

I think the leaves look great in vellum. Despite some of the leaves looking gold, they are in fact all copper. I added a couple of smaller leaves in the top corner to balance the composition and to lead the eye down towards the sentiment.

We'd all love to see what you make of LeAnne's sketch. Pop over here to see what the rest of the team have done with it to get your mojo flowing.

Retro Rubber 87 - Design Team Card

Welcome to a new challenge at Retro Rubber. This week, we have  sketch for you to play with.

The only things to remember when you're playing with us are to use at least one stamp that's a year or more old, tell us about the age of your stamp and don't link up to a total of more than ten challenges.

The balloon and cloud stamp set, Lift Me Up, is still current but first appeared in the 2017 Occasions catalogue - so January 2017. The sentiment is from a Clearly Besotted set called Say it in Style. I'm not sure when it first appeared, or even if it's still available, but I've owned if for at least three years.

The embossing folder and the striped paper are both retired Stampin' Up products.

We'd love to see what you do with this sketch. Hop over here to see what the rest of the Design Team have come up with, then why not join in with us?

The Paper Players 394 - Design Team Card

I enjoyed seeing the various ways people used the colours in last week's challenge: so much variety and so much skill! This week at The Paper Players, its Clean and Simple week with Laurie's "Blooms" challenge.

We'd love to see what you do with blooms and we want to see a CAS (Clean and Simple) treatment. So - minimal layers, minimal embellishments and lots of clean space.

The stamping over the sponged circle gives the illusion of layers but there's still plenty of clean, white space left to keep that CAS look.

This little bloom stamp out of Love What You Do is rapidly on the way to becoming my favourite item from the forthcoming Annual Catalogue, available for order after 1 June.  I've coloured it with Stampin' Blends here but it colours well using any medium. The Stampin' Blends also turned my rhinestones into Rich Razzleberry rhinestones.

As You See It 176 - Design Team Card

This week at As You See It, we have an intriguing sketch for you to sink your teeth into.

For this card I've used two co-ordinating papers from the Share What You Love specialty DSP pack, available for purchase in June from the new Annual Catalogue, or available now as part of the Share What You Love promotion packs.

Using DSP is quite unusual for me and to for me to use two patterns in one card is unheard of! However, in this case, I like the result.

We'd love to see how you see this sketch. You can link up with us by May 30th, 11.55 p.m. PST.

FMS 336 and GDP 137

The colours at Global Design Project demanded a bright, energetic subject - or so I thought. This lead me straight to Enjoy Life, a new set that will be available in the new annual catalogue in June. It's got some great silhouette images that really 'kick butt' and some great sentiments. So the colours are up front, centre and brightly kicking butt too - nothing subtle today!

Further inspiration came from Freshly Made Sketches.

The Garden Trellis folder added a touch of texture to the background but it's the image against the sponged background that is centre stage.

The Paper Players 393 - Design Team Card

Claire has a bright and cheery colour challenge for us this week at The Paper Players.

These colours shouted floral at me and that lead me, once more, to Beautiful Bouquet. I used my new Stamparatus to create the ombre sentiments in the background with a stamp from Perennial Birthday.

I also confess to not owning anything Strawberry Slush, since that colour predates my Stampin' Up - or indeed, stamping anything - days. Melon Mambo seemed to be a reasonable substitute. I did however have a stash of things Hello Honey, including some twine that I pulled some strands out of to make the bow. Stampin' Blends once more came to the party and coloured in some rhinestones Pumpkin Pie.

We'd love to see what you do with this cheery combination of colours. Does it shout floral to you too? Or maybe something else?
