As You See It 179 - Design Team Card

What a gorgeous colour challenge we have at As You See It this week.

The black against the vibrant colours got me thinking of silhouette stamping. The new Enjoy Life set is perfect for this style of stamping. Those of you who visit regularly will remember cards I've made recently using the stretching girl and the bicycling boy. This time, it was sans people - just nature.

To make the background, I used Kim Jolley's Not-Your-Mother's-Shaving-Foam technique. I love this technique - each one is different but there is still some control. I've linked to her tutorial before but it's easy to find on YouTube if you want to give it a try.

We'd love to see how you see this colour challenge. Go over and see what the rest of the team have done then get your mojo going and join us before July 11.

The Paper Players 399 - Design Team Card

Welcome to Laurie's sketch challenge at The Paper Players.

I thought I'd take the chance to play around with some of the glorious new colours Stampin' Up have brought out as part of their colour revamp. I've used Gorgeous Grape, Granny Apple Green and a touch of Shaded Spruce. I've mixed the three colours in my water-coloured, smooshed background then overstamped in Gorgeous Grape and Shaded Spruce.

The dragonfly is cut from Gorgeous Grape. I've made her underwings by stamping and copper embossing the matching stamp, die cutting it out and putting it underneath. I embossed the sentiment in copper to pick up that touch of opulence.

We'd love to see what you do with Laurie's super sketch. You can see what the rest of the design team have done with it here.

Here's a quick reminder of the rules at The Paper Players.

Retro Rubber Challenge 89 - Design Team Card

I'm excited by this week's challenge at Retro Rubber because it's my challenge. It's only the second time I've set the challenge so I had a great time working out a tic-tac-toe for us all to play with. As always with Retro Rubber, the rules are pretty simple: make sure that you use at least one stamp that is older than a year, give us an approximate age of the stamp and don't link up to ten or more challenges.

I was in a celebratory mode when I made up this challenge and so there's lots of opportunities for you to get out your wedding, anniversary, baby, congratulations, big birthday stamps and bling and go to town.

I played the diagonal: easel card, patterned paper, metallics.

The patterned paper is the retired Falling in Love from Occasions 2017. The lace doilies were part of the same suite and have also retired. The sentiment on the bottom of the easel is from the associated set, Falling for You.

The front of the easel uses Sunshine Sayings and the coordinating dies, Sunshine Wishes. These two lovely items first appeared in the 2016 Annual Catalogue and I'm so glad to see that they've continued in the 2018 Catalogue.

I hope you feel inspired to join our tic-tac-toe challenge. For more ideas, pop over to the Retro Rubber Challenge site and see what the rest of the team have come up with, then join up by the 29 June.

The Paper Players 398 - Design Team Card

It's CAS week - Clean and Simple week - at The Paper Players and Jaydee has given us this theme...

I've been wanting to try out using coloured pencils on Kraft for a while now, so this challenge seemed a good chance to get out my favourite bird set, Best Birds, since it's great for colouring. Because it's CAS week, I stamped the bird and branch straight on to the Crumb Cake base and got to colouring with my watercolour pencils.

To balance up the bird, I made a banner using the texture stamp that's part of the set to give more weight to the 'Happy Birthday' greeting. I possibly veered a little away from complete CAS-ness when I added in the bird's nest of linen twine and copper thread but I think it's ok, especially since I was giving this to my husband!

So, pop over to The Paper Players and see what the rest of the team have done with Jaydee's CAS Bird challenge, then break out your favourite bird stamps and join in with us.

Here's a quick reminder of the rules at The Paper Players.
  1. Create a NEW paper-craft project specifically for this challenge.

And remember to keep this one CAS: lots of open space, minimal layers and embellishments.
