Botanical Layers for Colour INKspiration 130

Welcome to a new challenge at Colour INKspiration. This vibrant palette was chosen for us by Crew Member Lou Kitzelman.

If you haven't played with us before, we are a group of Stampin' Up Demonstrators from the South Pacific. Challenges are shown and entered via our Facebook Group page. If you don't belong, and would like to, click here. Don't forget to answer the three easy questions you'll be asked when you ask to join the group.

Each challenge, Top Picks and a winner are chosen by the crew and the winner offered a chance to Guest Design with us for a future challenge. As we unusually had fewer than ten entries, we do not have a guest designer this time.

If you don't have an exact challenge colour, feel free to replace it with whatever you have that's closest, for example Starry Sky for Night of Navy. Black, White, Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake, Sahara Sand and metallics are free colours, as are flesh toned Stampin' Blends.

Well, where to start with these rich colours? They took me to a late evening scene.

I started by die cutting out a shape using one of the Deckled Rectangle dies. I sponged it with Granny Apple Green, Highland Heather and Night of Navy before spritzing it lightly with water to lift some of the colour.

I used the Botanical Layers set with Blackberry Bliss to create the garden scene. The Brushed Brass Butterflies added a nice finish,

The sentiment is stamped on a hexagon shape from Beautiful Shapes and backed with the same shape in Highland Heather but offset.

I  used the Stitched Greenery die on the white card front because I wanted a wide border to let the garden scene stand out from the Blackberry Bliss base.

We'd love to have you join in the challenge with us. Visit the Colour INKspiration site to check out the album of Crew Cards for inspiration. You can also add your entry there. We all enjoy seeing what you do with our colour palettes, so join in!

Lights Aglow for AYSI 284

If you play regularly at As You See It, you'll have noticed that our challenges rotate on a regular cycle. So a Speed Challenge is always followed by a Sketch and it's a lovely one this week

December seems a long way away but I've been planning some Christmas classes so had the Lights Aglow suite out on my desk - so a Christmas card it is!

It's a nice simple one that you could easily make multiples of. The Lights Aglow DSP makes a great background for the simple Christmas tree, which is also cut from DSP.

The sentiment and labels are from the Brightest Glow bundle, one of two bundles that coordinate with the DSP - and each other.

I used the Basic Border dies to add some interest to the Very Vanilla banner. I added a few of the Festive Pearls to decorate the tree.

Don't forget to visit the As You See It Challenge page to see what the rest of the design team have done and to link up your entry. You can join in with us until Wednesday 5 October, 11.59pm PST.

Season of Chic for Paper Players 609

I love leaf and foliage stamps. I also like Clean and Simple so it was hard to resist playing along with The Paper Players this week.

I started with the Artistic Mix Decorative masks and created a horizontal ground with Crushed Curry and Calypso Coral before stamping one of the leaves from Season of Chic in Early Espresso.

After that, it was a simple matter to add a couple of die cut leaves, one of which had a stamped under-layer, and a sentiment. The label die for the sentiment comes from the Meadow die set.

After some internal deliberation, I added a couple of Brushed Metallic Adhesive dots to finish.

Season of Chic for CAS Colours and Sketches 487

It's sketch week at CAS Colours and Sketches, just what I needed to get my flagging mojo moving!

I turned, yet again, to my current favourite bundle Season of Chic. I used the Deckled Rectangle dies, sized down, to cut a rectangle from the Texture Chic Specialty DSP.  I stamped, coloured and cut the sea shell stamp.

The seashell looked a bit lonely by itself, so I added in some seaweed, created with the leaf dies, in Soft Sea Foam and a tiny distressed gold seashell.
