TGIF 198

I've been thinking a bit lately about simple stamping. What does it really mean? For me, it's about the kind of stamping you can do when you don't own all the fancy tools like a Big Shot, dies, embossing folders and heat guns.

Simple doesn't always mean easy: if all you've got is stamps, then each one has to be formed and placed perfectly because there's nowhere to hide! There are a heap of different techniques you can use for interest and variety and even more if you add in some inexpensive items such as aquapainters, some colouring tools and maybe a punch or two.

In this card, I was inspired by the sketch at TGIF Challenge, which I kept very clean and simple. I'm always a fan of CAS - I like to see lots of open space to let a design breathe.

I haven't quite worked out where colouring tools fit in the scheme of simple stamping. There are so many different ways to colour, there's a way for everyone. I used Stampin' Blends in this card because I have them but it would work just as well if you used a blender pen and ink, coloured pencils or Stampin' Write markers.

Because this is more of a notecard, I took it down to 10.5x10.5cm square. The vellum is folded around the card front and anchored under the small butterfly with a glue dot.

I'm confident that this card would sit happily in the simple stamping camp.
