Cottage Rose for TGIF390

A quiet Sunday afternoon was the perfect time to continue exploring the Cottage Rose bundle, my latest buy. This time, I used the sketch at TGIF Challenge for inspiration.

In this card, I focussed on using smaller die cuts. There's a lovely foliage branch, which I coloured with Stampin' Blends then die cut. I stamped, coloured then die cut the image of three flowers. It turns out that those flowers fit into the flower shape on the small outline dies, although they got a little lost after I added the sentiment to the cluster. To help them stand out, I've popped the flower up on dimensionals in two cases.

I also tucked in a couple of leaves to add more to the bouquet.  In a separate useful discovery, it turns out that the 'Happy Birthday' fits perfectly into the second largest fishtail banner from Stylish Shapes.

I finished off with some Linen Thread with the end of the bow frayed and a trio of Iridescent Rhinestones because I like how they pick up adjacent colours.

Update: Delighted to be the winner at TGIF Challenge!

Variations on a theme with Tidings & Trimmings

Clean and simple has always been the style of card that has appealed to me the most. Over the years, it's evolved perhaps into more clean and layered with various side-steps into other styles.

I've been exploring the Tidings & Trimmings bundle in the last few days so decided to go back to my roots and go for a very CAS card. Then, I remade it as a more clean and layered version. Hence, the variations on a theme in the title. 😀

The cluster is the same for both cards: the gorgeous die-cut star, the Christmas stocking stamped in Cinnamon Cider, the Mossy Meadow holly, the Cherry Cobbler berries and the Cherry Cobbler rhinestones from the Holiday Rhinestones Basic Jewels pack.

The second card differs in having an embossed card front (Tasteful Textile) and an extra mat of Cinnamon Cider.

The colour inspiration for these came from the absolutely gorgeous palette at TGIF Challenges.

This challenge remains open until Thursday 9 September.

All Squared Away for TGIF320 and Inspire. Create 92

I've treated myself to some extra craft time today and have combined two challenges for inspiration.Inspire. Create. Challenge has a colour challenge.

Since I'm really enjoying this year's In Colors, this was no hardship to use!

I also used the sketch at TGIF Challenge.

The beautiful square die cuts from the All Squared Away bundle seemed perfect for the sketch. I like the way the stamps set offers various backgrounds that fit behind the die cuts perfectly and that the die set includes the extra little matching flowers so you can layer up.

I also think it's very cute that the larger of the 2021-23 In Color Jewels perfectly fits into the centre of the rounded flower. 😀

The Brick & Mortar 3D embossing folder made a for a clean background for the bright floral squares.

Soar Confidently for TGIF 307

I was intrigued by the sketch at TGIF Challenges.

Immediately, I knew that I wanted to used  a previously uninked set, Soar Confidently. This little set is easy to overlook in the January-June Mini Catalogue but its masculine, vintage-style images really resonated with me - so I finally cracked and added it to my last order. You can add it to yours by visiting my on-line store.

It works really well with the World of Good suite from the 2020-21 Annual Catalogue because they both have that shabby-vintage vibe. The sketch seemed to suggest that it wanted DSP on the card base, so I looked to the  World of Good Specialty DSP. Once I decided to curl over the top corner, revealing the Misty Moonlight patterned reverse, I added in some steam punk gears from the Garage Gears dies, cut from Misty Moonlight,  to pop in behind the airship and balloon.

After stamping the images in Early Espresso, I used a blender pen to spread the ink and make the images more sepia and sponged the edges in Early Espresso to add some depth and distress. The edge of the DSP is also sponged in Early Espresso to add to the shabby feel.

I shadowed the sentiment in Brass Foil, to pick up the brassiness of the textured mat.

I think this little set has a lot more to give!
