Hues of Happiness for AYSI277

Well, this time around at As You See It it's the love-it-or-hate-it challenge: speed stamping. I love it because it's just that bit different from other challenges and I find it a real puzzle to plan out. Mind you, I'm glad they only come around one challenge in six! I don't think I could do one every time, that's for sure!

If you've done a speed stamping challenge with us before it's like this. You have ten minutes to make your card. You can plan it out, block up your stamps, get all your gear out and ready (for instance any dies you need could be beside your Stampin' Cut and Emboss Machine) BUT once you take a cut of card or ink a stamp, the timer begins. It's worth noting that the ten minutes most definitely does not include cleaning up the craftermath either. 😀

This time, the theme of the speed challenge is 'Belated Birthday' which had me turning to the recently retired Turtle Friends for a sentiment. Usually I don't send belated birthday cards so I only had the sentiment by accident and it's the only one I had.

However, I put it in with lovely new things from the 2022-23 Annual Catalogue as well as some other craft room staples.

Speed challenges require you to plan cannily: how can you get big impact in a short time? Pretty DSP is one way to do that and it's hard to go past the Hues of Happiness DSP.  So, a strip of that. From there it was a short hop to Melon Mambo for the base and front.

I ran the card front through the SCEM with the Stitched Greenery die to get that lovely stitched foliage effect. The wee film strip edge on the sentiment is from the Blossoming Happiness dies that bundle with the Happiness Abounds stamp set.

I attached the ribbon strip and bow in the Crinkled Seam Binding and because I had some time up my sleeve, added in a twist of silver cord from the Simply Elegant Trim combo.

The finishing touch came from the addition of three of the Glossy Dots Assortment - with still a little bit of time on the clock.

We'd love to see what you can do in ten minutes. Visit the As You See It Challenge to see what the rest of the team have done and to link up your entry.
