Colour Inkspiration 55 - Crew Card

Welcome to a new challenge at Colour InkspirationIf you haven't played with us before, we're a group of Australian and New Zealand Stampin' Up demonstrators. You can play with us by joining in our Facebook group here which will let you play along, comment and vote for your favourite from the top 5 selected by the crew.

Last challenge, we let you pick a colour to add to black and white. This time, we're letting you pick which of the six colours you want to work with. Choose anywhere between 3 and 6 of the challenge colours and go wild!

I've chosen to use Coastal Cabana, Lemon Lime Twist, Flirty Flamingo and Rich Razzleberry.
At OnStage, all participants were given the new Daisy Lane stamp set.

Confession time: a month on and somehow, I'd never inked it up so I made the decision that I'd use it for this challenge, no matter what!

What took my eye was the fern image... it must be the Kiwi in me. I wanted to make a card that showed it off so I turned to a technique that I used for a class last year - a variation on a resist emboss.

If you've never done it before, it's very easy. I started with shimmery cardstock mainly because I wanted the sparkle but also because ink blends so nicely on it. I randomly sponged over it using Coastal Cabana, Lemon Lime Twist and a little Flirty Flamingo. Then I clear embossed the ferns over it. The really fun bit is when you take the dark ink pad and swipe it all over what you've just sponged and embossed. Usually this is done with black but to suit the challenge I used Rich Razzleberry instead. Then the magic happens when you take a tissue and wipe over it and all the clear embossed images come clear against the now dark background.

To finish off, I mounted the panel on Lemon Lime Twist and a Rich Razzleberry Base. Who else is going to miss Lemon Lime Twist when it retires at the start of June? The Lemon Lime Twist ribbon is a retired item and alas, my stash is almost gone. 😀 Make sure you stock up your stash of the retiring In-Colours before they're all gone.

For the sentiment, I used two stamps from Daisy Lane overstamped with the fern image. Aren't these new stitched nesting dies so pretty! They too will be available in the new June Annual Catalogue.

As you've hopped around, you'll have seen the enormous variety of projects these six colours have produced. Next on the hop is the wonderful Leonie Stuart. We'd love to see what you do these colours.

If you live in New Zealand and don't have a demonstrator, I'd love to be yours. I can help you with ideas and provide you with Stampin' Up products.
