Daisy Lane for Retro Rubber 143

Welcome to a new challenge at Retro Rubber Challenge - the game that lets you show your older stamps some love. This time round, we're asking you to use only yellow and green on your card. Since this is RETRO rubber, at least one of your stamps must be a year or more old AND we ask you to give us an approximate age for your retro numbers.

The colour combination screamed floral to me, so I reached for Daisy Lane. This set came out in the 2019-2020 Annual catalogue, in June 2019. I was lucky enough to get this set as a gift at OnStage in Auckland even earlier, in April. 

I've given it a refresh by using two of this year's In Colours: Bumble Bee and Just Jade. Old stamp plus new colours: perfect combination!

I started by stamping two of the stunning fern leaf image in Just Jade. Then I added in two of the small daisies in Bumble Bee. These were stamped in two stages - one stamp, rotate so that the petals fit the gaps left by the first impression. Then I embossed the card with the Subtle embossing folder.

I added in two strips of DSP in Bumble Bee and Just Jade and a sentiment strip. The sentiment is from Itty Bitty Greetings, which first appeared in 2018-19 Annual Catalogue. I stamped the large daisy three times in Bumble Bee, once on Bumble Bee and twice on Whisper White and punched them all out with the Daisy punch. The white ones got some extra treatment: coloured with So Saffron blends and given some definition with the Bumble Bee Stampin' Write marker, then curled with the bone folder to give it some lift. Finally, some Wink of Stella in the centre and some gold metallic pearls to finish off.

Colour INKspiration 62 Crew Card

Welcome to the new challenge at Colour INKspiration. If you haven't played with us before, we're a group of Australian and New Zealand Stampin' Up demonstrators. This week's palette is so rustic and lovely! Doesn't the graphic just make you want to play along? In addition to Crumb Cake, Crushed Curry, Call Me Clover and Whisper White you can freely use Very Vanilla, Basic Black, metallics and skin-tone blends.

I loved the graphic so much that I played it quite literally, taking the daisies and country-style feel. The Tin Tile embossing folder chose itself for this card. I highlighted the pattern with a light Crumb Cake sponging both to show off the pattern and to give a distressed, rustic feel to the design.

I've been enjoying making waterfall style cards because it shows off die cuts and punched shapes so well. The punched flowers from Daisy Lane have paired up nicely with some of the die cut foliage from the Wild Rose dies. The Perennial Essence floral centres finish them off well.

It seemed kind of fitting that during the All Blacks test match against the Wallabies tonight, I should have a go at the 'All on Black' challenge at TGIF.

To me, this challenge seemed to be made for a technique I've always enjoyed playing around with and that is Joseph's Coat. So I started by sponging a piece of Whisper White card with Call Me Clover, Granny Apple Green and Garden Green. Then I clear embossed the fern stamp from Daisy Lane over it. Finally, I smeared Tuxedo Black over the top and wiped off the excess with tissues.

That made such a vibrant ground for the rest of the card to build up from.

I punched, sponged and layered up the daisy. The Granny Apple Green strip behind the sentiment is embossed with the Subtle embossing folder. I've added in some die cut foliage pieces from the Wild Rose dies, which I've sponged lightly to blend the greens more.

I'm really happy with the brightness and vibrancy of this card. I think it will bring a smile to the recipient. Or at least, I hope so.
