Retro Rubber 104 - Design Team Card

This week at Retro Rubber Challenge, I had the honour of designing this week's challenge. I've made a Tic-Tac-Toe challenge that's got a ton of options for you to choose from. I can't wait to see what everyone makes of it!

Of course, since this is Retro Rubber Challenge, you still need to use a stamp older than a year and tell us how old (roughly) it is.

I played the top line: butterflies, green, textured embossing. I was so happy to see that butterflies are back in the new Occasions catalogue. I've loved them ever since I started stamping and the third set I ever got was Papillon Potpourri. It must have been around 2014. It was a pleasure to get them out for this challenge. The foliage is from Oh So Eclectic and the sentiment from Happy Birthday Gorgeous both from the 2017-18 Annual Catalogue and both still available.

The background was embossed with the Pinewood Plank dynamic textured impression embossing folder, then lightly rubbed with white pigment ink to pick out the pattern slightly.

The butterflies are coloured with Stampin' Blends. This design would work equally well with the new Butterfly Gala set. It, like Papillon Potpourri, has a matching punch that makes using them a breeze.

If you'd like to see how the rest of the design team have used the Tic-Tac-Toe challenge, pop over to the Retro Rubber Challenge site.

We'd love to see what you do with it. You can play along with us until 22 February.

  1. Oh my gosh Jan!! what a gorgeous card, the different shades of green combine beautifully and the golden accents on these butterflies are amazing. All of the greenery and your butterflies fluttering about look perfect with that wooden background.
    Awesome card!!!

PS. The Papillon Potpourri stamp set came out in the 2012-2013 SU big catalog😊
If you ever want to check out the age of your Stampin' Up! sets, go to Splitcoaststampers and click on the SU galleries, they have all the stamps sets there in alphabetical order dating from years and years back to the present.

  2. So many lovely details and I adore those blends of green - the whole thing works so well. The pale yellow adds a wonderful accent to the butterfly wings too.

  3. Such a pretty card, I especially like that textured wood background. Funny, I guess when I skimmed through the challenge post and the gorgeous design team samples, your card must have inspired me without my realizing it! Also, thanks for a fun tic tac toe board :)

  4. Great tic tac toe board Jan. We always choose the same row! I love that your details are mainly in one corner, gives a great focal point and I love the mix of greens. I think I need that textured wood embossing in my life. Claire x
