PCCC130

I'm enjoying taking advantage of the Waitangi Day holiday to spend more time in my craft room and, in particular, to play with the new stuff I got from Stampin' Up as part of  Sale-a-bration. It comes at a good time to spend any Christmas money and my family know me well enough to make sure there is some! I've finally got the I Love Lace background stamp that I've admired for some time and used it in this card.  If only there were more long weekends....

I only discovered the Paper Craft Crew Challenge about three weeks ago but I like the sketches I've seen there. They do challenge me because they are detailed sketches and while I like detail, I also like clean space so I really have to think about what I'm doing in order to get a balance that satisfies the sketch and my own sense of clean.

Here is this week's sketch.

And my card:

As this is only the second time I've used the Lotus Blossom, I had a good time experimenting to get the three flowers to differ and create some sense of depth beyond using dimensionals for some blooms. The flower stamped directly onto the card is done using only three shades of Perfect Plum, so it is the faintest. The middle one uses a first layer of Elegant Eggplant, then two shades of Perfect Plum and the third one uses two shades of Elegant Eggplant and a full-strength Perfect Plum. During this experiment, I was wishing I owned Wisteria Wonder! The cut edges are coloured in  Elegant Eggplant to give them more definition.

The banner sentiment has dropped down and morphed into an oval scallop (the oval scallop punch is another new thing). The three dots have become the Decorative Dots embossed background. And I can't say enough about how much I'm loving that delicious new-to-me I Love Lace stamp! The Perfect Plum ribbon was among the very first order I ever made with Stampin' Up.

In fact, everything in this card is Stampin' Up stuff.
