Darling Dinos for AYSI 347

I'm excited for the  new challenge at As You See It - it's a recipe challenge. All you need to do is to take the five ingredients and see what you can cook up with them.

Dinosaurs are favourites of mine, as in the Darling Dino bundle. I chose two of the dinosaurs from the stamp set, inked them up with Tuxedo Black and coloured them using Stampin' Blends in Gray Granite, Old Olive, Crumb Cake and Pecan Pie.

So that's two of the recipe ingredients ticked off: animals and colouring.

I die cut out my dinosaurs and also a rectangular panel using one of the Textured Notes dies.

So that ticked off a third ingredient of the recipe: punch or die cut.

A fourth ingredient was texture or embossing. Now normally, I'm all over embossing. I use embossing far more than I use patterned paper but.... in this instance, I really wanted to use the Woven Textures DSP. So, no embossing but definitely texture. I think that the decorative edge of the rectangle counts as texture too.

So that ticked off ingredient four: texture or embossing

Twine was the final ingredient. That was easily ticked off by adding some lines of Crumb Cake twine from the Basic Essentials Baker's Twine pack along with a bow.

Then to finish off, I added a trio of Pecan Pie dots from the Neutral Matte Dots pack.

The whole team would love to see what you can cook up with these five ingredients plus your own extras. You can see what the rest of the team have done, and link up your entry, at the As You See It Challenge page.

If you live in New Zealand and don't have a Stampin' Up Demonstrator, I'd love to be yours. I can help you with ideas, get you catalogues and provide you with Stampin' Up products. Trusty Toolbox for AYSI 317

Welcome to Recipe Challenge week at As You See It. This week, your mission is to take the five given ingredients and see what you can concoct with them. Team member Jane was thinking of Robbie Burns' Night when she popped some plaid into the mix for this one!

For some reason, plaid makes me think of masculine, so that's where I went. Curiously, this card used no stamps at all!

I used the Artistic Mix Decorative Masks to create the plaid background - tick for PLAID.
I used the Metal Plate 3D Embossing Folder for the Lost Lagoon tag - tick for EMBOSSING FOLDER.
I used Tailor Made Tags dies to create the two tags and the Mini Alphabet dies for 'DAD' - tick for DIE CUTS.
I used 2023-2025 In Color Dots in Copper Clay - tick for DOTS
I used the Baker's Twine Essentials Pack for the Gray Granite twine that ties the tags - tick for TWINE.

The tools are not stamps at all but are fussy cut from the Trusty Toolbox DSP, which is one of the Sale-a-bration items - free with qualifying purchase until the end of February. While this DSP does coordinate with a fantastic masculine tool kit bundle, it works a treat all on its own.

For details on how to make this card, you can view the tutorial below.

Joy of Noel for AYSI 311

It's time for a new challenge at As You See It. For our recipe challenge, we're joined by our Guest Designer Jennie Maier, who was the winner of our last colour challenge.

The recipe challenge is a good one - all you have to do is create something that uses all five elements of the mystery box: holiday, embossing folder, ribbon or twine, die cut, patterned paper.

Here's what I came up with, using the Joy of Noel bundle.

My HOLIDAY is Christmas.
My EMBOSSING FOLDER is Distressed Tile 3D for the background.
My RIBBON or TWINE is the gold twine from the Simply Elegant Trim combo.
My DIE CUTs use the Joy of Noel set: the outline for the Christmas spray, the lettering for NOEL and the pine sprigs.
My PATTERNED PAPER is the strip behind the lettering from the Joy of Christmas DSP pack.

We'd love to see how you see this recipe challenge. Visit the As You See It page to see what the rest of the team have done and to link up your entry. You can play along with us until Wednesday 15 November, 11.59pm PST.

If you live in New Zealand and don't have a Stampin' Up Demonstrator, I'd love to be yours. I can help you with ideas, get you catalogues and provide you with Stampin' Up products. You can leave a message in the comments or contact me using any of the methods listed in the Contact Me tab at the top of the page.

Season of Chic for AYSI 293

It's time for our Recipe Challenge at As You See It! All you have to do it take the five given ingredients and cook them up into something gorgeous. You can add in other ingredients but you must use all five of the given items in some way.

So, our five ingredients this time are: embossing folder, blossom, shades of pink, pearls and distressed paper. What an intriguing collection of ingredients.

So here's my creation,,,.

The recipe ingredients lent themselves to a shabby chic or vintage creation, so what better set than Season of Chic?

So how are the ingredients incorporated?
Shades of Pink: I've used three different pinks: Flirty Flamingo, Blushing Bride and Petal Pink
Embossing Folder: Timeworn Type for the card front main layer and for the sentiment label
Pearls: I've used Iridescent Pearls as the flower centres and embellishment
Blossom: I used the flower dies from the Chic dies and layered some in different pinks
Distressed Paper: I used Distressed Gold Specialty paper for the net backing and the flower centres, I used scissors to distress the edges of the Basic White layer, then added some ink distressing around the edges in Smoky Slate and Blushing Bride to add an aged look. I ink distressed around the sentiment as well.

How will you use these mystery box ingredients? You can see what the team have done by visiting the As You See It page. We're joined this time around by Guest Designer Jen Mitchell, the winner of our last Colour Challenge. You can also link up your entry at the As You See It page.

If you live in New Zealand and don't have a Stampin' Up Demonstrator, I'd love to be yours. I can help you with ideas, get you catalogues and provide you with Stampin' Up products.
