Joy of Noel for AYSI 311

It's time for a new challenge at As You See It. For our recipe challenge, we're joined by our Guest Designer Jennie Maier, who was the winner of our last colour challenge.

The recipe challenge is a good one - all you have to do is create something that uses all five elements of the mystery box: holiday, embossing folder, ribbon or twine, die cut, patterned paper.

Here's what I came up with, using the Joy of Noel bundle.

My HOLIDAY is Christmas.

My EMBOSSING FOLDER is Distressed Tile 3D for the background.

My RIBBON or TWINE is the gold twine from the Simply Elegant Trim combo.

My DIE CUTs use the Joy of Noel set: the outline for the Christmas spray, the lettering for NOEL and the pine sprigs.

My PATTERNED PAPER is the strip behind the lettering from the Joy of Christmas DSP pack.

Magical Meadow for The Paper Players 663

One of my favourite challenges is The Paper Players so I was delighted to find some time to play in their latest challenge, a sketch - my favourite kind of challenge. 

I had the most amazing weekend recently at the Creativity Abounds Virtual Stamp Camp, which featured the Winter Meadow suite. I'm excited for the next one in early February 2024 - watch out for details.  Since Winter Meadow was still on my mind, I got it out again for this challenge.

I used the Christmas Tidings embossing folder for the background and the sentiment is from Festive & Fun.

The Deckled Rectangle dies gave a nice point of interest to the edges of the rectangles.

Enjoy the Rhythm for Just Add Ink 655

 I have a new stamp set. I've had it a while now and I've been looking for a reason to crack it open. This week's challenge at Just Add Ink gave me just the reason!

I love music sets so I bought Enjoy the Rhythm just because it was there. I'm sorry I left it for so long. Now I've opened it, I feel a few more cards coming on....

For this card, I created a sponged and spritzed background using Lemon-Lime Twist, Azure Afternoon and Starry Sky, then stamped on various images from Enjoy the Rhythm.

It turns out that the sentiments in the set (at least the ones I used) marry perfectly with the Something Fancy dies, so I used them to build up this cluster.

I like the bright and cheery result and even have a recipient in mind!.

A First Date with Earthen Textures

I treated myself yesterday by cracking open one of the new bundles I ordered from the 2023-2024 Annual Catalogue, Earthen Textures. I was attracted by the gorgeous pots and foliage, the interesting font of the sentiments and the extra baubles in the matching dies. 

Although it's part of a suite and so has fabulous paper to tie in with it, for my first date I chose to use only the bundle. The video below shares with you my first impressions of the bundle and my very first project made with it. As an added bonus, I've used three of the new In-Colors: Pebbled Path, Copper Clay and Wild Wheat.

On the Ocean with Interactive Turning Wheel

 Just a quick post today to share with you my latest video tutorial.

I've paired up the Give it a Whirl dies with the On the Ocean bundle.

It's a longer video because the beginning section is about the Give it A Whirl dies and setting up a turning wheel in general. Then the second part is about the making of this specific card.

Cheerful Daisies Sneak Peek for Paper Players 637

 I was excited to see the new challenge at The Paper Players because I have preorder goodies and I'm ready to play! And nothing is quite as good as a sketch challenge to get me moving on thinking about what a set can do. 

The first out of my preorder box was the Cheerful Daisies Bundle - available from 2 May.  I like daisies and I like subtle and I like clean, so that was where I was heading with this design.

The Cheerful Daisies bundle is fantastic. The dies cut all the outlines of the main images, has a sentiment label AND some lovely other bits and pieces to bulk out the stamped images. 

I've used the layering bits and some of the 'extra' bits to create this cluster.

I've used some of the new mini blending brushes to add some of the new Lemon Lolly to the daisies. I've paired it with an existing favourite, Soft Sea Foam. 

Aren't these Solid Dot Adhesive Backed embellishments great? They're also available 2 May. They work well with the DSP in this suite but as you see, they're also amazing on their own.

And isn't Lemon Lolly such a beautiful yellow? Worth sacrificing So Saffron for, in my opinion. :-)
