Cheerful Daisies for The Paper Players 700

Welcome to the latest challenge at The Paper Players. LeAnne has created a sketch for us to play with this week. Isn't it great? Lots of possibilities for this one!

Unusually for me, I started with the colours I wanted to use then looked for a set to go with it. After initially not being very impressed with this year's In Colors, I've ended up loving them! I wanted to use Pretty in Pink and Summer Splash. After looking over my current sets shelf, I settled on a long neglected set: Cheerful Daisies

The flowers represent the circular elements of the sketch. I used the Cheerful Daisies dies to cut several flowers of different sizes and some foliage, all in Basic White card. Then, using blending brushes, I coloured them with Pretty in Pink, Summer Splash and Daffodil Delight inks. After that, I layered them up to make each flower head.

The background is embossed with the Distressed Tile 3D embossing folder, which had some splatters in Summer Splash added with the tiny splatter stamp from Spotlight on Nature.

The sentiment is stamped in Basic Gray. Both it, and the label, are from Cheerful Daisies. A trio of In Color Shimmer Gems finished it off.

You can pop over to The Paper Players page to see what the rest of the design team have done and to add in your own entry. We'd love to see what you do with this great sketch!

Around the World on Wednesday Inspiration Hop

Hello from New Zealand! I'm delighted to be joining in with the team at Around the World on Wednesday. This team of wonderful crafters hop on the second Wednesday of each month with a whole lot of inspiration for you on a theme. This month, the theme is "You've Got Mail: It's All About the Inside."

Before I get to that, a little more about the Around The World on Wednesday team. The team is selected so that there's someone from every timezone in the world where Stampin' Up! operates - so it really is Around the World! In fact, the world is so big that when I post this blog, it will almost be Thursday for me. I'll be setting it to publish at 11pm Wednesday night.

Anyway,  here we all are. At the end of the blog, there's a list so that you can jump directly to a particular crafter or get back on track if you're lost.

So... you've got mail. Isn't is lovely to open the letterbox and find some handcrafted goodness, instead of the rates bill or some junk mail? Of course, the anticipation only begins with the envelope. For me, it's what's inside that gets me curious.

The project I'm sharing with you looks like almost any Congratulations card at the start, with maybe some extra anticipation in having to undo a bow to get to the inside.

But on the inside, it's oh so much more. It's a concertina album card and was made for my daughter's graduation day. I chose to use the Floral Art Gallery suite, since one of the sheets of DSP seemed to be channelling her dress. The pink floral matched in with the hood for a Bachelor of Arts too, so it was a perfect set to use.

Once you've untied the ribbon, the album concertinas out, revealing picture after picture. Each photo has been matted onto coordinating card stock, and extra bits of journalling has been added to some using the postage-edge die from the Art Gallery dies. Some pages are stamped onto Whisper White card stock and some are DSP.

And, of course, the photos continue on the reverse side of each panel as well. So it really is a case of 'It's All About the Inside."

For more inspiration, please keep hopping.

If you're lost on the hop, here's a list of the participants.

Floral Art Gallery For CAS Colours and Sketches 402

With Christmas now fading into memory and with some long, lazy summer days ahead, it's been great to finally get back into the craft room. Sadly, my mojo seems to still be on leave so I was pleased to see the latest sketch at CAS Colours and Sketches

It was excellent inspiration! I got out my new Art Gallery bundle and braved working out how to use the new Gilded Leafing embellishment to create a golden centre for the flowers. It turned out not to be as scary as anticipated!

As lovely as the floral images in this set are, and as opulent as the gilding is,  I think that the Painted Texture 3D embossing folder is my favourite part of the whole gorgeous suite.

Update: This card was a weekly winner at CAS Colours and Sketches

Floral Art Gallery On Line Class

Happy New Year to you all. The exciting new January-June Mini-catalogue is now open!

To celebrate, I’m offering my first on-line class featuring the Fine Art Floral suite. Available only in New Zealand.

Here’s how it will work

You buy from me the Class Kit for $130.50. This will get you the Floral Art bundle (Art Gallery stamp set and Floral Gallery dies) and the Painted Texture 3D folder. In addition, as a free gift from me, you will receive kits to make six cards (2 each of three designs) plus full video or PDF instructions from me on how to put them together. Postage is included.

Saleabration

Since it is also the start of Sale-abration, the kit is a qualifying purchase so you can choose an item from the Sale-abration brochure at the same time.

To complete the cards

You will need to have your own adhesives, clear blocks for your stamps and ink pads (Petal Pink, Flirty Flamingo, Pear Pizzazz, Crumb Cake, Merry Merlot, Mossy Meadow, Poppy Parade and Daffodil Delight). You will also need a die cutting machine that works with Stampin’ Up! dies and embossing folders.

Optional Extra

One of the cards I have designed uses the opulent Gilded Leafing. If you would like to try out this fabulous new embellishment that lets you add a gold layer to almost anything, add to your order:

Heat and Stick Powder (156110) $12.50

Gilded Leafing embellishment (154560) $19.00.

Here’s how to order:

Email me at jan@thinkingstamping.co.nz to let me know that you’d like to join in.

Include in your email any extras you would like to add to the basic kit of $130.50, such as the optional extras for gold leafing, any ink pads or adhesives - or anything else that caught your fancy in the catalogue.

Let me know what free Sale-abration item you would like - and a back up in case your first choice is sold out.

Let me know by Wednesday 13 January and I will place the orders on Thursday 14 January.

Once payment is made via online banking, I will place the order and when it arrives, I will prepare the kits and send them out, with your products, and information on how to access the instruction video or PDF.

It will be just like sitting in on one of my classes! Please join me.
