Beach Happy for Retro Rubber 160

The new challenge has a hint of nostaglia for me. Although our new theme challenge is Summer, I'm looking out the window at a cold Winter. So it was nice to hunt through my stash for a really summery set.

I landed up on Beach Happy, a now retired set that first appeared in the Occasions Mini Catalogue in January 2019. I paired it up with a new product - the Subtles Designer Series Paper Stack. The 2021 catalogue added in a DSP stack for each colour family with four new patterns to play around with.

Since I was going for a summery feel, I chose Balmy Blue and So Saffron to base the design around. I used Misty Moonlight for the stamped outlines and sentiment. I'm always a bit wary of mixing different patterns together in one project but the family stacks make it so easy!

I've paper pieced the umbrella and did a little sponging with Blending Brushes to add in some sand and a hint of ocean for the deck chair and umbrella. Cinnamon Cider makes a lovely golden sand impression, don't you think?

What's your summer go-to?  You can see what the rest of the team have done and link up your entry by visiting the Retro Rubber Challenge site.

Inspiration for this card also came from the current challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments.

Lovely sketch, isn't it? And you can enter there until 14 June.
