Mountain Air for CI 101

Welcome to a new challenge at Colour INKspiration! Many thanks to those of you who played along with us for our 100th challenge. We loved seeing all the entries.

We're beginning a cycle of challenges that includes some of the 2021-23 In Colours.  Chosen by crew member Monica Formosa, it's a lovely, restful image to kick off with.

If you haven't played with us before, we are a group of Stampin' Up Demonstrators from the South Pacific. Challenges are shown and entered via our Facebook Group page. If you don't belong, and would like to, click here. Don't forget to answer the two easy questions you'll be asked when you ask to join the group.

Each challenge, Top Picks and a winner are chosen by the crew and the winner offered a chance to Guest Design with us for a future challenge.

If you don't have an exact challenge colour, feel free to replace it with whatever you have that's closest. Black, White, Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake, Sahara Sand and metallics are free colours, as are flesh toned Stampin' Blends.

I know the colours are the challenge but the graphic had me thinking of nature, so I turned to a much under-used set of mine, Mountain Air. The images are reversible, giving details images on one side and a solid shape on the other. I've usually used the detailed side but created this mountain range out of the solid sides, overlaying Pale Papaya, Fresh Freesia and Highland Heather to create the perspective.

I used Evening Evergreen to stamp the forest area, sponging the same colour at the bottom of the picture. I added Balmy Blue with a blending brush to create the sky.

Once I'd completed the image, I got out the dies. I've experimented a number of times with using triangles to split and reassemble an image but usually, I've used equilateral triangles. Today, the Isosceles set got a turn. You can see two other experiments with this technique here and here.

The background is embossed with the Bricks & Mortar folder. I've added some 2021-2023 In Color Jewels in Evening Evergreen to accentuate the sentiment.
