Friends are Like Seashells for AYSI252

It's time for THEME week at As You See It and this time around, it's Masculine.

I've chosen a set that at first glance doesn't seem particularly masculine. Friends are Like Seashells originally came out as part of a suite that included some very pretty, quite feminine papers but I think that if you move towards earthier colours, it fits the bill as a masculine card. I'd quite happily give this to any of the men in my family, who all enjoy the beach.

To give the seashells their 3D appearance, I first stamped them in Early Espresso on Very Vanilla. I fussy cut them out (because I wanted a narrower edge than using the dies would have given me), then inserted them into the Seashells 3D embossing folder to given them texture. Finally, I added to the illusion of depth by sponging the edges with Early Espresso ink.

I added some touches of Coastal Cabana because it's not only an ocean colour but because it highlights the Early Espresso.

The sentiment is from Handsomely Suited

We'd love to see how you see this theme. You can see what the rest of the Design Team have done and link up your entry by visiting the As You See It Challenge site.

I took inspiration for this card from the current challenge at CAS Colours and Sketches

  1. These shells are a nice way to create your masculine card, Jan! I love that you trimmed them a bit...I saw Narelle do that as well and the look it creates allows them to be a bit more detailed. Great card for our challenge!

  2. I agree that this makes a great masculine card Jan - those browns really add to the textured appearance of the shells and I love the addition of the aqua strip to accent the horizontal panel. Love the embossed background too! Thanks for playing along with us over at CAS Colours & Sketches this week as well!
