Stampin' Up! Artisan Design Team Hop - Ornate Garden 1

I feel very excited to be able to show to you today the things I've made with the Ornate Garden Suite, an early release from this year's Annual Catalogue. Excitingly, this pre-catalogue offering will be available to all Demonstrators on preorder from March 3 and to all your customers from April 1. This early release lets you, and your customers, get a feel for the new catalogue.

This opulent suite includes not one but two bundles, as well as a range of coordinating products and embellishments. Here's a summary of all that's on offer.

Bundle 1 (154115)
Ornate Thanks photopolymer stamp set (149471)
Ornate Borders dies (152724)
This bundle is also available in Dutch, French and German

Bundle 2 (154119)
Ornate Style cling stamp set (152572)
Ornate Layers dies (152726)

Gilded Gems Embellishments – adhesive backed opaque Gold (152478)
Ornate Garden Ribbon – two pack combo of Old Olive and Terracotta Tile (152479)
Ornate Floral 3D Embossing Folder (152725)
Ornate Garden Specialty Designer Series Paper (152488)

Of course, if you've got to have it all - and you'll want to - the order number for the whole collection is 154153 in English. (NL 154156, FR 154154, DE 154155)

On to some projects...

Card 1: Thank You

The first of my two cards concentrates on the Ornate Style stamp set and the Ornate Layers dies that bundle with it. The sentiment is from Ornate Thanks as Ornate Style only contains images but otherwise this card is all the Ornate Style bundle. I wanted to make a card that was stripped back and let the eye focus on the sentiment.

I started with a piece of Shimmery White cardstock and sponged it with Mint Macaron, Terracotta Tile and Pretty Peacock. After spritzing the card front to lift some colour, and letting it dry, I stamped over it with various images from the set: the tiny flowers in Terracotta Tile, the scrollwork in Mint Macaron and the big bouquet in Pretty Peacock. The edge is sponged in Pretty Peacock.

In the above close up, you can see the layers of stamping and inking more clearly. The sentiment I stamped in Pretty Peacock then overstamped in Versamark and clear embossed to give it a shine. This apparently simple card has a lot of hidden tricks.

Card 2: Floral For All You Do

For my second card, I went for a totally opulent over-the-top approach. This one uses almost everything! The only thing missing is the ribbon.

Isn't the Ornate Floral 3D Embossing Folder gorgeous?!

I gold-embossed the very pretty floral bouquet from Ornate Style and coloured it with my aqua painter. Then I added in some extra die cut bits from both Ornate Layers and Ornate Borders. There's a gorgeous piece of DSP in the back: mint macaron and gold - delicious! The Gilded Gems embellishments are fantastic - opaque golden goodness!

Update: I've been asked a couple of times about the extra die cuts in the above card. The feathery Mint Macaron is from one of the dies in Ornate Borders. The border is of flowers and leaves but this beautiful feathery foliage is what is cut out to create the negative space in the border. In the picture following, it is the third die down.

The combination of bold sentiments, with plenty of mix and match to customise the greeting, along with the pretty frames and borders means that it's easy for less experienced crafters to make stunning projects. The striking images also mean there's plenty of opportunity for the avid crafter to go wild with techniques as well. The level of coordination between bundles, the papers and embellishments (which Stampin' Up! is already famous for) makes this suite even more attractive to all types of crafters.

  3. My favorite is the second project Jan! I adore the sweet little blossoms in the embossed background in white, it softened the look and feel of the card. Your choice of colors for the watercoloring were just perfect with the gold embossed floral design. The terra-cotta tile ornate frame was the right pop of color to compliment your overall design. Mint Macaron is not a go to green for me but after seeing your use of the color it will definitely be a new try for me. Thanks for the delightful inspiration! Have a great week.

  8. Could you please share with us, how you die cut your greenery and what dies you used? They don't look like anything we have? Thank you for sharing!

    1. Hi Gloria. You're not the first person to have asked me about that greenery so I've added in an update explaining which die I used - it's in Ornate Borders.
