Stampin' Up! Artisan Design Team Hop - Best Dressed Suite with Sale-A-Bration Second Release

Sale-A-Bration is an exciting time of the year - and it just got even better with more fantastic products to earn! More products mean more creative possibilities to experiment with. And who doesn't like to make their money go further with free things?

During Sale-A-Bration, your money will get you more than ever. For every $110 you spend in an order, you get to choose a free item from either the first or second release Sale-A-Bration brochure. Spend $220 and you can choose from the extra special Level 2 rewards part of the brochures. The more you spend, the more free items you can choose. Your order can be made up from any current catalogue - the Annual Catalogue or the January-June Mini Catalogue - but you have to hurry as Sale-A-Bration finishes on 31 March.

Today, I'm delighted to share with you two projects. The first is made with items from the ever so lovely Best Dressed Suite. The money I spent on that earned a Sale-A-Bration set. Well Dressed is one of the fantastic fresh offerings from the Sale-A-Bration Second Release brochure.

Between them, I've got both feminine and masculine cards covered!

For this pretty Mother's Day Card, I cut a strip of floral paper from the Best Dressed DSP Stack and adhered it to a Lovely Lipstick card base. The main cluster of the stamping uses images from the Dressed to Impress set in Basic Gray  (perfume bottle) and Smoky Slate (roses) then uses the filler stamps from the same set in Lovely Lipstick and Petal Pink. I like that the perfume bottle looks almost like there's a genie in the bottle! I stamped the fill stamp once in half strength Lovely Lipstick, then in Petal Pink full strength and half strength overlapping each layer until the bottle was 'filled'. Finally, I stamped in some tiny polka dots in Petal Pink.

The sentiment, in Basic Gray, is from the same set. The stitched label shape is from the coordinating All Dressed Up dies. This stamp and die set make up the Dressed to Impress bundle. The Mint Macaron 3.2mm ribbon, which is part of the Best Dressed suite, ties easily and adds another feminine touch to the card.

The bundle, DSP stack and ribbon took me over the $110 threshold for earning a Sale-A-Bration reward. The Best Dressed set was an easy choice for my free item, as having it opens up a whole world of masculine-themed cards.

As soon as I saw all of the small, retro male items in the set: umbrella, hat, shoes, keys, wrist watch, pen and ties, I knew that I wanted to use it for a retiform style card. The first time card I saw in this style was about three years ago when the fabulous Jackie Noble had one in her display. Since then, I've periodically experimented with the style. I think it suits small images.

In the close up, you can see the shaded prisms more clearly. I deliberately kept the division between cells subtle and monotone, using only Night of Navy and Seaside Spray.

To complete the card, I used my favourite saying from Itty Bitty Birthdays. Using Stamparatus to make sure things lined up perfectly, I stamped the greeting in Night of Navy then Versamark and clear embossed it to give it a shine.

Well Dressed is a great addition to my stamping stash: masculine, classy and versatile enough to use with any number of techniques. Perfect for all levels of stampers.

Don't forget to place your orders before the 31 March as once Sale-A-Bration ends, all the Sale-A-Bration free items disappear too.

Next up on the hop is the wonderful Lauren Alarid, aka The Crafty Little Peach

  2. Beautiful cards Jan. I love the soft background you made in two colors behind the perfume bottle.
And the technique you used on the male card is beautifully done.
