Retro Rubber 103 - Design Team Card

What a great selection of rainbows we got for our last challenge! Congratulations to our Top Picks - you didn't make it easy for us to find a winner!

This week at Retro Rubber, it's an Anything Goes challenge. Of course, since this is retro rubber, the rule about using at least one stamp that's at least a year old and telling us its approximate age still applies.

Today's card is honouring Dragonfly Dreams, one of the sets I will miss the most when it retires at the end of May. If this is a set you've had your eye on, make sure to order it from me before the end of May - or ASAP, just in case it sells out.

Having just received my pre-order from the recent OnStage, it was also a chance to try out some of the new In-Colours that will be available at the start of June. I've used three of the five: Pretty Peacock, Purple Posy and Seaside Spray. The card base is Pretty Peacock, the mat is Purple Posy and then I've sponged all three colours onto Shimmery White card before beginning to build the background.

The dragonfly was cut from Sparkle glimmer paper, then sponged with Pretty Peacock. She's mounted on Stitched Shapes circles of Seaside Spray and vellum.

I built up the background. After sponging Purple Posy and Seaside Spray, with a touch of Pretty Peacock around the edges, I stamped the dragonfly in Seaside Spray and added the dots in Purple Posy. Finally, I used a Decorative Mask stencil and sponged white craft ink through it. The pattern shows up in certain light, adding another layer of interest.

If you'd like to see what the rest of the design team have done, be sure to visit them at the Retro Rubber Challenge blog. Then why not get out some of your older stamps and join us? We'd love to see what you do and we'll be sure to leave you some lovely comments as well.

If you live anywhere in New Zealand and don't have a Stampin' Up demonstrator, I'd love to help you with ideas and Stampin' Up products. Please message me through my Facebook page, linked in the sidebar of this blog or leave a comment below.

Just Add Ink 431

This week, the team at Just Add Ink have this great sketch for us.
It seemed to be begging for a great die cut for the main element. The most fabulous die cut I have is the Detailed Dragonfly set, so that was the starting point.

Cut in Sparkle glimmer paper and under-layered in black, it seemed so glamorous and elegant that a congratulations card built up around it.

I used some of the marvellous Chicken Wire element and some silver embossing to add to the elegant feel. The black panel and the white strip have been embossed with the Subtle textured embossing folder.

Retro Rubber Challenge 96 - Design Team Card

This week, Claire has designed a fabulous sketch for us to play with at Retro Rubber. We'd love to have you join us. All you have to do is use at least one stamp that's older than a year and give us an indication of its age.

One of my favourite sets is Dragonfly Dreams, which first appeared in 2017 Occasions catalogue.
I created a bokeh background, stamped one dragonfly and mounted a die-cut dragonfly on a vellum circle.

The sentiment comes from the recently retired One Big Meaning (from AC 2015).

Why not visit the Retro Rubber blog and see what the rest of the team have done with this sketch, then join us? You have until October 5 to join in with us. Just remember: at least one stamp older than a year, tell us how old it is and don't join up to more than ten challenges in total.

If you live anywhere in New Zealand and don't have a Stampin' Up demonstrator, I'd love to help you with ideas and Stampin' Up products. Please message me through my Facebook page, linked in the sidebar of this blog or leave a comment below.

And, of course, you can shop with me from anywhere in New Zealand by clicking any of the products pictured below or the SHOP NOW button in the sidebar of this blog or you can message me.

Retired products: One Big Meaning, Regals Candy Dots.

The Paper Players 399 - Design Team Card

Welcome to Laurie's sketch challenge at The Paper Players.

I thought I'd take the chance to play around with some of the glorious new colours Stampin' Up have brought out as part of their colour revamp. I've used Gorgeous Grape, Granny Apple Green and a touch of Shaded Spruce. I've mixed the three colours in my water-coloured, smooshed background then overstamped in Gorgeous Grape and Shaded Spruce.

The dragonfly is cut from Gorgeous Grape. I've made her underwings by stamping and copper embossing the matching stamp, die cutting it out and putting it underneath. I embossed the sentiment in copper to pick up that touch of opulence.

We'd love to see what you do with Laurie's super sketch. You can see what the rest of the design team have done with it here.

Here's a quick reminder of the rules at The Paper Players.

  2. Upload your creation to your blog with a link back to us.
