Retro Rubber Challenge 95 - Design Team Card

This week at Retro Rubber Challenge, we have an inspiration photo for you. You can pick any element you like from it: the theme, the colours, the textures, the books, the apples .... whatever gives you an idea.

Of course, since this is retro rubber, you do need to use at least one stamp that's older than a year and give us an approximate age of that stamp.

As a teacher-librarian, it was hard for me to go past this pile of books. I'm always giving people book vouchers as gifts, so I thought I'd make a gift card holder ready and waiting for the next time.

Just as it's hard for me to go past a pile of books, it's also hard for me bypass book stamps. This one is Bookworm by Darkroom Door. I'm not certain how old it is but I bought it on the Internet from Darkroom Door before I joined Stampin' Up so it has to be at least three, and maybe four,  years old.

The book pile and words are Darkroom Door but everything else is pure Stampin' Up.
I used my beloved, and sadly retired, Dictionary background stamp on the centre panel then sponged the edges with Crumb Cake. The background paper is from Wood Textures DSP stack. I thought this particular piece was an exact match for the table in the inspiration photo.

It is tricky to see in the photo but I painted the edges of the book pages with clear Wink of Stella which gave it a pretty sheen and also lightly smeared the ink to give the pages some colour.

The world map seemed an appropriate place to stage the photo for this one. I couldn't help but make sure that New Zealand got a look in. :-)
Alaska and Canada, where we had a fantastic holiday earlier this year, also got a peek in the photo.

If you're joining us at Retro Rubber, then don't forget that you must use at least one stamp older than a year, tell us how old it is and not join up to more than ten challenges in total. You have until 21 September to play along.
If you live anywhere in New Zealand and don't have a Stampin' Up demonstrator, I'd love to help you with ideas and Stampin' Up products. Please message me through my Facebook page, linked in the sidebar of this blog or leave a comment below.

And, of course, you can shop with me from anywhere in New Zealand by clicking the SHOP NOW button in the sidebar of this blog or by clicking on any of the products listed below.

Note: SU Dictionary is retired. The books and words are by Darkroom Door.

  2. Jan, I love your card. My Mother was a Librarian, so books hold a special place in my heart and I have to admit, it was really hard for me to choose - books or apples. The sentiment is perfect. I need that. Clairex
