Retro Rubber Challenge 58 - DT card

Our new Retro Rubber challenge is sure to be a favourite - Anything Goes. As usual, you must use stamps that are at least a year old and tell us how old the stamps are. Other than that, the sky's the limit on this one!

Being able to choose anything was harder than it sounded. As I was looking through my stamps, I came across a couple of old favourites. Although neither is retired, both Wetlands (AC 2013-14) and Hardwood (OC 2014) have been around for a while. I always thought they worked well together.

I've also used the mini-netting stamp from Butterfly Basics to add some texture.

I wanted a small scale sentiment so I turned to another old faithful set, Clearly Besotted's Many Mini Messages. It looks like this one is still available too but I bought it online in 2015. Although it is hard to see in the photo, the birds' reflections are highlighted with Wink of Stella.

I'd also like to enter this card into the challenge at Fab Friday, since it was their sketch that I used as inspiration.

So, please, dig out your old stamps and give them an outing at Retro Rubber. You have two weeks to play with us. Entries will close on 24 March.

Update: So pleased to be picked in the Fab Four at Fab Friday.

  1. Just gorgeous - I especially love your attention to detail on the background - I should add more layers myself! Great treatment of the doily! Thanks so much for playing at Fab Friday!

  2. Such a wonderful card, Jan! Love your color combination... works so well with your theme. Wetlands is one of my all time favorite stamp set. I hope SU doesn't retire it this year... it should be in everyone's stash as should the Hardwood background stamp! The netting is a wonderful detail for this card. Great card, teammie!!

  3. Stunning card, Jan! I love the colors you chose and all of the wonderful details! I will have to remember that netting for my next rustic card. Love this card!

  4. This is beautiful, Jan! I have Wetlands and have barely inked it up, but after seeing this, I am inspired! I just don't know how to do "scenes", but your little vignette is a perfect size. Great for the sketch too...I predict a winner here!

  5. I love how you're rockin' the older stamp sets! They are classics and you've used them beautifully! Great colors for a sympathy card as well! Thanks for sharing at Fab Friday!

  6. Jan, after I write this comment to you, I'm going to pin this card to my Sympathy cards board, it's just gorgeous. This types of cards are always so difficult to make so I'm always looking for them.
Love the main image, this stamp set is beautiful, I should use it more.
Your attention to detail is outstanding.

  7. This is a wonderful sympathy card. Pretty but still understated. Thanks for playing at Fab Friday!

  8. Such an elegant card Jan as a sympathy card. I really love the addition of the netted stamp in the corners. Clairex

  9. Soothing and elegant, perfect for a sympathy card. The texture of the netted stamp plus layers are a stunning way to set off your focal image!

  10. Jan, your card is gorgeous. I love the colors and the layout of your card. It's always hard to create a sympathy card, I have this stamp set and will have to remember how you used it. Thanks for the inspiration.

  11. Wow! This is a stunner! I love the colors and the images you used! An elegant card for such a hard occasion!

  12. It is so hard I think to create sympathy cards. Your card is so perfect. The colors, elements and placement are lovely. ❤️
