Retro Rubber 86 - Design Team Card

We had some fantastic entries in our vintage challenge last week. Let's see what you all do with this week's challenge. 

The rain is pouring, the temperature is dropping and my back lawn is covered in leaves, so Jane's spring flower challenge is a welcome relief! Make a card using flowers BUT make sure you use a stamp that's at least a year old AND tell us the approximate age of it. 

One of my favourite floral sets is the retired Summer Silhouettes, which first appeared in the 2012-13 Annual Catalogue. I also took the opportunity to have a play with some of my favourite retiring colours: Wild Wasabi, Elegant Eggplant, Perfect Plum and Wisteria Wonder.

I was going for a peephole through the garden wall kind of effect, so used the Pinewood Planks textured embossing folder. 

I added centres to the tiny blooms with a silver gel pen. The larger flowers have rhinestone centres.

The little punched banner sentiment finishes off the card. It's a punch I've seldom used but it works nicely on this card. The set is Thoughtful Banners which came out in 2016 and it still current. It's great for all sort of small sentiments which fit into this punch or the Classic Label punch.

Retro Rubber Challenge 59 - DT card

Welcome to the new challenge at Retro Rubber. I was blown away by the number and quality of the entries in the last Anything Goes challenge. It was a hard choice to pick the top cards.

This week, we've got a sketch to get your creative juices flowing. As always the only requirements are that you use stamps that are at least a year old, you tell us how old they are and don't link up to more than ten challenges in total.

Isn't angled panel exciting?! For me, summer is becoming a memory and autumn is taking hold so this card is a last salute to the colours of summer.

Summer Silhouettes (AC 2012-13) is one of my favourite sets so I was happy to ink it up again. Papillon Potpourri (AC 2012-13) was one of the first sets I ever got - I convinced my children that it was the perfect Christmas present!

This picture shows the sponged and embossed background well. I used a technique I learned from my fellow demonstrator, Carole. I embossed a piece of greaseproof paper with the Softly Falling embossing folder. Then I ironed it the greaseproof to a piece of card. The pattern transferred and showed up when sponged. It makes such a pretty background to stamp over and is so very easy to do. Some of the centres of the Calypso Coral flowers have been highlighted with a silver gel pen.

The credit for these beautiful colours goes to the Fab Friday Challenge, so I'm going to enter this card at their challenge too.

Fab Friday 100 FMS 261

There is something special about 100. Possibly it's because I come from a household where cricket is an important sport - or maybe not - but it was hard to pass up a challenge with 100 in it. Added to that, the fact that the colour challenge at Fab Friday is absolutely gorgeous made this challenge irresistible!

I've teamed this up with the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches, because I liked that too.

This colour combination was recently used at another challenge. Nice for me that it's appeared again, as I had two ideas the first time round. It's been very satisfying to have a reason to develop the second.

The dragonfly has a vellum underwing that I've coloured Delightful Dijon and then applied Wink of Stella to the front side, although that is quite hard to see in the photo. I added the gold metallic shapes, instead of the rhinestones that I'd originally planned, because they picked up the Delightful Dijon better.

As You See It 134 - DT Card

Welcome to the first of our new fortnightly challenges at As You See It. This week, we have another sketch challenge for you.

There's lots of exciting possibilities for that lovely circular centre panel. I've made mine a peephole into a garden scene. It gave me a chance to use one of my favourite sets, Summer Silhouettes, before it retires at the end of May.
