Thank you to everyone who played along with Jaydee's super sketch last week - the gallery was amazing! I'm sure it will be this week too with this week's theme from Claire: Love is in the Air,
Today's card is a real mix of things from the stash and the new box, which is something that's nice to do. I like it when you can mix and match what you have with something new for a fresh look.
The starting point of this card is the new - and gorgeous - Lovely & Beautiful specialty DSP. The other starting point was a card by my team mate, LeAnne Pugliese who recently made a card that featured hearts layered with scalloped hearts. This reminded me that I had a pair of punches that I got when I was on the Artisan Design Team so I hunted them out.
I layered heart in the Lovely & Beautiful DSP with scalloped hearts in Petal Pink and Peach Pie to pick out DSP colours. Then what? That was the question!
I needed a ground for the hearts, so embossed a piece of Basic White with the Exposed Brick embossing folder then flicked over some splatters of Petal Pink and Peach Pie ink. At that point, I decided on a Calypso Coral base in order to bring out the richness of the colour from the DSP.
Next question: what sentiment? Well, I got out Lifetime of Love and inked up the 'Love You' from there then cut it with a banner from Stylish Shapes. I felt it needed something else, so I added a gold bow with the sadly retired Elegant Trim... it's nearly all gone now!
The final thing was the addition of a trio of Pearlised Faceted Circles in Calypso Coral. These little beauties are part of the Lovely & Beautiful suite but of course, work well with lots of other things too.
What will you do with Claire's theme?

Jan, this is such a pretty Valentine! I just love the pretty flower hearts and the scalloped background. The embossed background splattered with pink is a lovely backdrop for these beautiful hearts. The gold metallic bow and faceted gems add so much detail! Thank you for making my challenge shine! Have a great week, My Friend!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I would have picked Peach Pie as a Valentine color, but it sure looks great here! And it looks like you modified last week's sketch for this week's card too, so fun. I love the scalloped detail behind the hearts and the texture of the embossing folder with the splatters. Beautiful card, Jan!
ReplyDeleteLOVE these colors - LOVE these hearts, Jan! You are so creative. Not once did I think about using floral paper for hearts. The gold twine bow and Calypso Coral dots are the icing on the cake. This is a great layout, too. Your card is a scene-stealer for sure. Have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteJan, this is such a great design with the scallop hearts layered over one another down the card! The peach and calypso are look beautiful together. A very sweet love card that you could give to anyone!
ReplyDeleteI love your use of these hearts and the untraditional colors and prints! It's all so very pretty, and the background adds such a nice touch. Gorgeous sentiment and embellishments as well! Glad I could inspire you with my little valentines, LOL!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card! I love your trio of hearts against that embossed background. You reminded me about those heart punches! I love that you used the old with the new!
ReplyDeleteThat paper makes a lovely feature of your cascading hearts Jan and I really like the touch of red amongst the peachy tones. The shine of the faceted gems and the gold twine (yes I hoarded that too!) are the perfect finishing touches!
