Last week's recipe challenge was a bit tough, I thought. However, the people who entered rocked it! This week at As You See It, it's theme week. In the Air. How do you see it? Anything from birds to balloons will fit the bill.
Butterflies are it for me. They're 'in the air' and bringing a hint of summer to come right along with them. This card has ended up being a hotch-potch of items from several sets but isn't it lovely that you can mix and match what you have in that way?
I started with a piece of Basic White and sponged one corner with Pool Party, using a Blending Brush. I cut a strip out of it for the sentiment.
After adhering the top and bottom pieces to a piece of Smoky Slate, I added in the foliate die cut from Forever Flourishing. Then I reattached the sentiment strip after first adding in a scalloped border in Pale Papaya. To make those scalloped edges, I cut the largest of the rectangle dies from Stitched So Sweetly and used the long sides. The sentiment, stamped in Basic Gray, is from Prized Peony.
Finally, the butterfly - both the solid base and the lacy overlay - is from the Brilliant Wings set. Cut from Basic White, the lacy overlay was sponged with Pool Party, Pale Papaya and Fresh Freesia.
Further inspiration for this card came from the sketch at Inspire.Create.Challenge which is open until 8 September.
