Blossoms in Bloom for CI79

The challenge this time around at Colour INKspiration is an opulent one. Night of Navy, Merry Merlot, Blackberry Bliss and Pretty Peacock.

If you haven't played with us before, we are a group of Stampin' Up Demonstrators from the South Pacific. Challenges are shown and entered via our Facebook Group page. If you don't belong, and would like to, click here.

Each challenge, Top Picks and a winner are chosen by the crew and the winner offered a chance to Guest Design with us for a future challenge.

If you don't have an exact challenge colour, feel free to replace it with whatever you have that's closest. Black, White, Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake and metallics are free colours, as are flesh toned Stampin' Blends.

These strong, opulent colours are beautiful. I wanted to tame them a little so that they didn't compete too much. I chose to use the Blossoms in Bloom bundle, as I've had it a while but hadn't yet used it. Although there are bloom stamps that match the dies, I did not use them for this set as I wanted the white under-layer to show.

I cut the larger die from the Many Layered Blossoms dies in Fluid100 watercolour paper and used aqua painters and ink to colour it. The leaves are mostly Pretty Peacock with a touch of Night of Navy. The outer edges of the flowers are Merry Merlot and the centres are Blackberry Bliss. The small outer flowers are reversed in colour.

It cut the details die in Night of Navy and layered it over the watercolour layer. The card front is embossed with the new Tasteful Textile embossing folder. I like the subtle texture this folder adds. It's already becoming a favourite in my craft room!

The Blossoms in Bloom set offers up many options for sentiments but you can never have enough birthday cards in the stash, so I went for that. It's stamped in Night of Navy and cut using the Stitched Rectangle dies. To bring out the Pretty Peacock a little more, I've cut the scalloped edges from the Pretty Peacock Scalloped Linen Ribbon and used them in behind.

I'm also very impressed with this stamp and die bundle. The floral spray is so pretty that it needs very little work to make a card with a bit of wow. That, combined with the range of sentiments offered will make this set a craft room staple.
