Colour Inkspiration 57 - Crew Card

There were some truly beautiful creations in Challenge 56 and I enjoyed seeing them all. This time round we have a lovely combination of Lovely Lipstick, Daffodil Delight and Granny Apple Green. You are free to use Basic colours (white, black, vanilla) and metallics.

If you haven't played with us before, we're a group of Australian and New Zealand Stampin' Up demonstrators. You can play with us by joining in our Facebook group here which will let you play along, comment and vote for your favourite from the top 5 selected by the crew.

I've paired up the bright colours with black and white to make this trifold, angled card. For the card front, I embossed black panels with the Pinewood Planks folder then lightly skimmed over it with Whisper White ink to highlight the pattern.

The coloured butterflies are stamped in Tuxedo Black ink using the Butterfly Gala photopolymer stamp set, then coloured with Stampin' Blends. The tiny butterflies are cut using the Butterfly Beauty dies, as are the Granny Apple Green vines.

I double sided the butterflies in the middle section so it would look good from both sides. I've added in a plain panel for writing on but this is optional - or you could add one to the back. I used the Stitched Rectangle Dies to tie in with the Stitched Shape on the front but you don't have to.

I was going to add in a 'Happy Birthday' greeting to the inside but decided not to because it occurred to me that this would make a great anniversary card as well.

The other nice thing about this card is that it folds up easily to fit into a standard envelope.

If you'd like to try this, I've cut the card base from a piece of Basic Black lengthways so that it is 15cm at one end (any taller and you'll have trouble fitting it in an envelope) and the short end at 7cm but you can alter that to whatever height you like. If you cut it at 6 cm, you can get two from the one sheet but I wanted it a bit taller than that. Then I scored it at 9.9 cm in from each end to get the three sections.

Next up on the hop is the fabulous Bronwyn Eastley.
