As You See It 175 - Design Team Card

Amanda's sense of humour is on show in this week's challenge at As You See It. As usual with our occasional speed challenges, it is combined with a monochrome colour challenge. This week our challenge is Shades of Grey... in under ten minutes.

Yes, you read that right. Make a card in under ten minutes, using only shades of grey (black and white are also allowed). You can have planned your project, you can have all your supplies out, you can have your desk tidy. But once you make that first cut or ink that first stamp then you've got ten minutes to finish.

From when I cut the Basic Grey card stock into a card base, this card took 9 minutes 20.17 seconds to complete.

In a nod to a rapidly passing autumn, I've used the glorious outline leaf from Colourful Seasons in stamped off Smoky Slate as a background to the sentiment.

My Stampin' Blends came in really handy in this challenge. I used the lighter Smoky Slate marker to add a touch of grey to the narrow white organza ribbon. Since I only lightly coloured one side, as the ribbon snakes across the card front, there's a movement from white to grey that I like. I used the darker Smoky Slate marker to colour the white perfect accents, which are sadly retiring at the end of the month. Stock up on them now, especially if you have some Stampin' Blends in your tool box.

If you live anywhere in New Zealand and don't have a Stampin' Up demonstrator, I'd love to help you with ideas and Stampin' Up products. Please message me through my Facebook page, linked in the sidebar of this blog or leave a comment below.

And, of course, you can shop with me from anywhere in New Zealand by clicking the SHOP NOW button in the sidebar of this blog or any of the products pictured in the product list below.

The sentiment is from the Rooted in Nature stamp set, which will be available with the new catalogue at the start of June. You'll love it - put it on your wish list!

The Smoky Slate spotted DSP is a retired paper. It's from the Carried Away DSP that was a Saleabration item in 2017.

  1. You already know I love this card, but the hint about coloring the ribbon with the blend---I totally did NOT think about that! How clever and creative! Another great tip from you, thanks! And the card looks great!
