Impressions Abloom for The Paper Players 755

Hello everyone! Welcome to a new week at The Paper Players. Thank you for the lovely entries in Ann's Food and Drink themed challenge. Our hostess this week is LeAnne and she has a colour challenge for us.

I decided to break out the Impressions Abloom bundle for this one as I had in mind a softly coloured floral card and the die cuts in this bundle are gorgeous. I cut a white flower in each of the three sizes, some Lemon Lolly centres, some Soft Sea Foam leaves and some tiny Lemon Lolly flowers.

On the Basic White card front, I sponged some Soft Sea Foam with a blending brush. Then I did some fine splatters of diluted Lost Lagoon ink before embossing the front with the Exposed Brick 3D embossing folder. I curled one corner and added in some Lemon Lolly behind it.

The sentiment is stamped in Lost Lagoon and cut with a banner die from Stylish Shapes. I added some Iridescent Pearls to the centres of the tiny Lemon Lolly flowers, plus a couple more.

It mightn't have turned out quite as I'd imagined but pretty close. 😀

Painterly Pears for Freshly Made Sketches 690

My pre-order for the next Online Exclusive drop in July arrived during the week, so I'm having a bit of an explore around the suite to see what it can do. My pick was the Painterly Pears suite - a bit out of my comfort zone being fruit based but it's got such a lovely vintage feel, I've given it a go.

For inspiration, I've used the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.

I've gone for a very straight forward sketch interpretation so I could play around with the DSP, the stamps and the die cuts from the Perfectly Pears bundle.

The DSP that I've used is the moodiest of the lot, with a Secret Sea background and a profusion of flowers, pears and foliage. Certainly one to use in small doses! The reverse is a more restrained Darling Duckling hand-drawn grid which I've used for the second strip of the sketch.

I stamped the pear in Old Olive and die cut it, adding leaves and stem from a larger die cut from the Perfectly Pears set. I built up the background using various die cuts from the set, mounted onto a circle from Spotlight on Nature.

The sentiment, stamped in Secret Sea, is from the Perfectly Pears set but the label is from Stylish Shapes.

I finished off with a trio of Secret Sea Sparkle Dots, also a part of the suite.

The card base is also Secret Sea and I used the Exposed Brick 3D embossing folder for the front of the card.

I'm happy with the result and now that I've seen the products in person and used some of them, I'm happy with my pre-order choice too! I think you'll be seeing more of this suite!

Regal Flora for Around the World on Wednesday

Welcome to the latest hop at Around the World on Wednesday!

On the second Wednesday of each month, the team put together a thematic hop to give you some inspiration for your own crafting. We love it when you try out something new or CAS(E) one of our projects. The team is truly international, with members from each time zone of the world that Stampin' Up! operates. You're with me, in New Zealand - the first place in the Stampin' Up! world to change the date. 😀

Our inspiration this month is this lovely sketch. I love a sketch challenge. I find them really great for getting my mojo moving again. So if you're in a bit of a creative slump, why not use this one as your inspiration?

Another source of inspiration for this card is the very lush floral papers in the Regal Winter collection. The colours are rich and gorgeous but for this card, I went with those in shades of Navy and Blackberry.

One of my favourite things in the Regal Flora bundle is that label shape with pie crust detailing and two rounded corners. It's great as a label for greeting but so very useful as a base for building up a cluster too.

For the embossed card front, I used a favourite folder of mine - Distressed Tile. I stamped and die cut some flowers and foliage, picking out colours from the DSP. I've used Night of Navy, Berry Burst, Blackberry Bliss and Pretty Peacock. To get variations of colour, I added some of the inks with a sponge dauber. For instance, I inked the trio of flowers with Berry Burst, then used a sponge dauber to add Blackberry Bliss to the centres.

The sentiment is stamped in Night of Navy to match the card base, then cut with the smallest banner from Stylish Shapes. Possibly my favourite thing is the embellishments. These beautiful gold foiled gems are from the Regal Foiled Adhesive Backed Dots: a name that doesn't do justice to the rich colours and flashes of gold!
