Pretty Perennials for Colour INKspiration 98

Welcome to a new challenge at Colour INKspiration! This time around, I've had the pleasure of picking the inspiration, so I hope you like it.

If you haven't played with us before, we are a group of Stampin' Up Demonstrators from the South Pacific. Challenges are shown and entered via our Facebook Group page. If you don't belong, and would like to, click here. Don't forget to answer the two easy questions you'll be asked when you ask to join the group.

Each challenge, Top Picks and a winner are chosen by the crew and the winner offered a chance to Guest Design with us for a future challenge.

If you don't have an exact challenge colour, feel free to replace it with whatever you have that's closest. Black, White, Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake, Sahara Sand and metallics are free colours, as are flesh toned Stampin' Blends.

I've used the Pretty Perennials bundle for this card because I love all the extra little bits and pieces the die set offers and I really like the water-coloured. textured look of the images. If you like this set, order it soon as it will be disappearing at the end of June.

The background has been embossed with the Painted Texture embossing folder. I'm in love with this folder!

After fussy-cutting the 'happy', I added in some shadowing in Gray Granite which not only tied the sentiment to the rest of the card but added some depth to the lettering. It's a simple, but effective, trick.

We'd love to see what you make of these colours.

Pretty Perennials for FMS 479

The sketch at Freshly Made Sketches gave me inspiration to use the Pretty Perennials bundle that was sitting on my desk, begging to be used!

I wanted to use bright colours because the only other time I used this set, I went very subtle and very pastel. After I'd stamped the large flowers in Magenta Madness, I got the idea of using a Basic Black base and front in order to maximise the contrast.

I used Magenta Madness and Blushing Bride for the flowers and Granny Apple Green for the foliage. The card front is embossed with the Tasteful Textile embossing folder.

The Stitched So Sweetly dies worked a treat for the rectangle element of the sketch.

I think that this set deserves a lot more use than I've given it so far! All the various elements make it fun to use and the variations are limitless.

Pretty Perennials for Paper Players 531

There's a theme challenge at The Paper Players this week which gave me a good excuse to break out my other new bundle, Pretty Perennials.

What I really like about this bundle is the way that the images of the stamp set are augmented by the extra pieces in the dies, so you can layer easily.

Blushing Bride, So Saffron and Soft Sea Foam made for a sweet pastel Spring palette. In keeping with the soft colours, I used Basic Gray rather than Basic Black for the sentiment. I've fussy cut the 'happy' and white embossed the 'birthday' on Basic Gray card.

The embossing folder used was Dainty Diamonds.
