And just like that, another year passes by! It seems no time at all since the start of a new year and here we are at our last challenge for 2023. We'll be back on January 5 2024 with a new round of challenges for you.
At least we're finishing on an adrenalin rush. Literally. It's SPEED CHALLENGE week.
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to create us a project on the theme of 'stars' in TEN MINUTES OR LESS.
Before you decide that's impossible, let me tell you the rules.
- Firstly, the ten minutes is actual creating time - thinking time and clean up are not included.
- You can have your supplies out and ready to use. Your stamps can be blocked, the inks on the desk, the dies out of the packet and by the machine.
- What counts as creating time? The clock starts at the moment you start using the supplies. So if you cut a piece of card, ink a stamp, make a die cut, emboss a piece of card - then the clock is on!
Over the years of doing these challenges, I've learned a couple of time saving tricks and one of them is that DSP is great for a speed challenge. If you choose well, it will do all the heavy lifting for you.
I have a packet of Merry, Bold & Bright DSP and it contains a sheet of cheerful, starry paper so that was my starting point. That, and a bright, bold sentiment from Joy to You is about all that's needed for a quick card.
Because the DSP did most of the work, I had plenty of time to use sponge daubers to get a multi-coloured sentiment.
Best of all, it was a quick project. All finished, including the inside in ....
We'd love to see how you see this speed challenge. Visit the As You See It page to see what the rest of the team have done and to link up your entry. You can play along with us until Wednesday 13 December, 11.59pm PST.

So genius to use that starry sheet, Jan! I LOVE the ombre effect of your sentiment, too - this all sings together!
ReplyDeleteThis DSP was a clever move, Jan! And also pairing it with that sentiment! I love the sponged effect that you used on that! And overall, it's such a cheery card, too!
ReplyDeleteYes DSP for the win Jan - I forgot I had this pattern too! I love the bold starry panel and the ombre sentiment adds a really neat design feature, tying in the bright green band perfectly. I love it!
ReplyDeleteLove this dsp...brilliant move! The sentiment is bold and bright. The way you placed it, I really had to look because I convinced myself the sentiment was die cut out so that you could see the papers behind it. Does that make sense? Then I realized you placed that sentiment perfectly to make a person think it was see through! Merry Christmas!
