Forever Fern for AYSI 273

Welcome to a new challenge at As You See It! This time, it's colour challenge week and we've got a lovely mix of blues for you to play with. As well as the pretty combo, you also have the chance to join us as guest designer in a future challenge if you are our Featured Artist in this challenge.

I turned to my favourite set from the 2021-22 Catalogue, Forever Fern. I'm delighted to see that this set is carrying over into the 2022-23 Catalogue.

I started with a piece of Shimmery White card. I chose this because I like the underlying sparkle it gives.
I used blending brushes cover it in Balmy Blue and Pacific Point, finally adding some Night of Navy around the edges. Then I lightly spritzed it with water to lift some of the colour to create a more mottled effect.

Once the base dried, I cut it with the largest of the Stitched Rectangle dies, then stamped it. I used Night of Navy with the large foliage, Pacific Point with the medium foliage and Balmy Blue for the splatters.

I finished it off with a sentiment from Best Year, which sadly is retiring. I cut a maidenhair fern from Balmy Blue and Basic White then sponged both lightly around the edges with Pacific Point.

The gorgeous gemstones are a special release to coincide with the Waves of Inspiration pre-release, so if you want some you'll need to order them before the end of April.

You can visit the As You See It site to see what the rest of the team have done and to link up your entry.

  1. Just gorgeous, Jan! I loved reading about your process for that spectacular background - what a thoughtful process! It shows! Off to dig out my shimmer cs - why do I forget about that from time to time??

  3. This is spectacular, Jan! Rhapsody in Blue! Good photography, too, because I can just catch the bit of sparkly from the Shimmery White cardstock!

  4. Jan...as much as you love this stamp set, I love seeing what else you do with it. I thought it was gorgeous in greens but it is absolutely beautiful in blue! Wonderful as always!
