On the Horizon for Paper Players 575

I do love a sketch challenge. In fact, they're probably my favourite kind of challenge. The sketch at The Paper Players is a great one - so open and versatile. I think I'll tuck it away for future use.

Here in New Zealand, the New Horizons DSP has been unorderable since pre-order opened, so I've had to get a little creative to make the most of the fantastic On the Horizon bundle.

I started by watercolouring a background in Mossy Meadow and Misty Moonlight on the top section of watercolour paper. This was the bare bones of the landscape.

I stamped in some grasses in Mossy Meadow. I die cut some grass in Mossy Meadow card and from a piece of card watercoloured in Mossy Meadow.

The picket fence was cut from a timber pattern in the In Good Taste DSP pack and sponged it a little with Crumb Cake. I stamped the sentiment onto a piece of the same paper.

I added the twine and bow and a small grey stone to the sentiment - and resisted the urge to add more. 😀

Update: Delighted to be A Cut Above at The Paper Players.

  1. Jan, you did a fabulous job of creating the watercolored background. Your card is so evocative of the eastern seaboard beaches. What a wonderful take on the sketch. So glad you played along with us again this week at the Paper Players

  2. I LOVE this, Jan! Very simple but your stamping, coloring and dies all work together to make a stunning image! I have such a struggle with "scenes" perhaps I should get this bundle and force myself to CASE your card to get some practice! Just beautiful! Thanks so much for sharing this with us at the Players this week!

  4. This is such a beautiful CAS card Jan! From the soft watercolouring to the chalky texture of the bottom panel, this scene is so evocative of a coastal cliff top. I love the way the fence leads you into the scene too. Fabulous! Thanks for playing along over at The Paper Players this week!
