For the Record for Sunday Stamps

Between Christmas, the birth of a grandchild, setting up a You Tube channel and summer holidays my craft room has been much neglected. Sitting on my desk since before Christmas was the brand new set, For the Record. When I bought it, I thought it had lots of scope for that difficult beast - the Masculine Card.

Today I made it through the door and got the set opened up. Inspiration came from the sketch at Sunday Stamps.

Although the sketch allowed for any shape, I wanted to use the vinyl record stamp from the set so stuck with the circle shape.  I used the brick pattern paper from the In Good Taste DSP set because I had in mind that the record would look like a piece of art on an apartment wall. I'd intended to use the diagonal stripes stamp from the set to create the horizontal in the sketch but instead went for the asymmetric wooden strips. Isn't is funny how sometimes a card just gets a mind of its own?

To accentuate the vinyl record look, I stamped the image in Versamark on Basic Black and embossed it with Black embossing powder. From this picture, it would seem that there might be some foreign specks of white or silver in the mix somewhere! The record stamp coordinates with the Layering Circle Dies.

Since I was looking for a masculine feel to this card, I kept the sentiment very simple and resisted the urge to add embellishments.

Having got a card using this set under my belt, I'm glad I got it and think it will make any number of useful cards for all sorts of people. 😀

  1. Eee! I love this, Jan! I can't wait to try out this set, too - and I have it earmarked for Man Cards class myself, lol. Looks perfect with the In Good Taste pack, and I actually like the little silver inclusions in the Black EP - gives it just a touch of movement! Congrats again on the grandbaby! Thanks so much for playing at Sunday Stamps!
