Beautiful Friendship for AYSI 247

This week at As You See It, we have the challenge that you either love or hate. It's Speed Challenge week so our challenge to you is to create a card in ten minutes or less using blossoms.

Before you begin panicking at the prospect, here's what you can and can't do with this speed challenge. You can have worked out the idea in your head. You can assemble all the supplies you need so that they're at hand. You can block up your stamps. You can't have pre-cut or pre-stamped or pre-embossed anything because once you take that first cut, or ink up that first stamp, the timer begins.

I chose Beautiful Friendship because not only are the watercolour-y blossoms so pretty but it gives you lots of bang for not much stamping - always helpful in a speed challenge. Sadly, this set is retiring at the end of April so make sure you check it out on the Last Chance Products list on my online store if you want it.

I quickly die cut the rectangle of Whisper White using the Stitched Rectangle Dies and stamped the hydrangea bloom image in each corner, stamping again at the bottom without re-inking. I added a touch of Flirty Flamingo with a dauber on the bottom one before stamping it  but abandoned that for the top corner - too much time for not much gain!

I added in the leaves in Mint Macaron, stamped the sentiment with the same ink and die cut it. Having the dies already on the table makes this a quick step.

I cut the DSP for the front and, since I was tracking well for time, adhered a length of Rococo Rose scallop edge ribbon before attaching it all to the Rococo Rose base.

After attaching the stamped panel and sentiment to the front, I was still tracking well for time so added the three faceted dots. For a speed challenge, I usually have something put aside to be added only if there's time. The whole thing took me 8 minutes 35 seconds, including a stamped inner... but excluding cleaning up my desk! 😀

We'd love to see what you can do in ten minutes or less. Don't forget to include your time with your entry.  You can see what the rest of the team have done and link up your entry by visiting the As You See It Challenge site.

  1. I love this stamp set and will be sorry to say goodbye to it - it's so versatile and perfect for a speedy stamped card! I love the way you keep a few ideas 'in reserve' should you have enough time to execute too; little things like the faceted gems have a big impact I think. Beautiful!
