Mountain Air for As You See It Challenge 223 - DT Card

How are you all holding up in lockdown? Here in New Zealand, we're about 16 days in. It's very strict but it seems to be working and that's the main thing. So to help put some cheer into your crafting this week, our theme at  As You See It  is RAINBOW.

When you want bright, it's hard to go past the vibrancy gained when using Stampin' Up! Pigment Sprinkles. They happen to come in a rainbow of colours: Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, Mango Melody, Bermuda Bay, Granny Apple Green and Gorgeous Grape. One of the things that makes working with them exciting is that no two turn out identically. You can control things up to a point but then you just have to let them do their own thing.

I started with a piece of Fluid 100 Watercolour Paper, which I wet with an aqua painter before adding very small amounts of each sprinkle vertically down the page. I let them activate then spritzed a fine mist over the top and let it drift down onto the page to get a bit more action in places. If you spritz too close to the sprinkles, then you get directional splatters. For some projects, that might be what you want, but in this case I did not. Nor did I want too much water as if they get too wet they begin to act more like paint and lose the grainy, textured look. I wanted to preserve some of that look, especially at the bottom which, in my head, was the ground so I wanted suggest rockiness.

The actual layout of the card is a bit of a CASE of the January-June Mini Catalogue, with the mountains and the two die-cut trees.

I put the mountain range, from Mountain Air, over the blue area and leading down into the 'forest' green area, leaving the warmer colours to suggest a sunset.

I used Basic Black and Basic Gray to balance out the strong colours in the base, mat and sentiment. The sentiment is from Good Morning Magnolia.

You can play along with us until Wednesday 22 April. Pop over the  As You See It Challenge site to see what the rest of the team have done with this theme and to link up your entry.
