Painted Poppies for CI76

Isn't this latest challenge palette at Colour Inkspiration luscious? So rich and autumnal, perfect to play with as we race towards winter.

If you haven't played with us before, we are a group of Stampin' Up Demonstrators from the South Pacific. Challenges are shown and entered via our Facebook Group page. If you don't belong, and would like to, click here.

Each challenge, Top Picks and a winner are chosen by the crew and the winner offered a chance to Guest Design with us for a future challenge.

If you don't have an exact challenge colour, feel free to replace it with whatever you have that's closest. Black, White, Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake and metallics are free colours, as are flesh toned Stampin' Blends.

The red and orange combination got me thinking about the poppies that mum had in her garden, so I reached for Painted Poppies. I've coloured them using Cherry Cobbler and Pumpkin Pie Stampin' Blends, both light and dark. I've used the small splatter stamp with Pear Pizzazz to suggest the ground.

Because I wanted the eye to focus on the poppies and the sentiment, I've mounted the front onto Thick Very Vanilla and kept all the colour in the centre.

I was going to use Stitched Rectangles to cut out the poppies but instead used a newish acquisition, the Stitched So Sweetly dies. The scalloped edge and line of stitching in these dies adds interest and a stylish finish to the panel. Between the Very Vanilla and Cherry Cobbler layers, I added in a rectantle of Pumpkin Pie while making sure to fit it inside the stitching line of the larger rectangle.

I'm very fond of the Layered Leaves embossing folder (most embossing folders, truthfully!) so used that for the card front.

I used part of one of the sentiments from Peaceful Moments but split it so the first half, 'You shouldn't have' is on the front and the last part, 'but I'm glad you did' is on the inside.

To finish off, I added in a Clear Faceted Gem and filled two flower centres with Basic Rhinestones but coloured them using the dark Pumpkin Pie Stampin' Blend.

We'd love to have you join in and show us what you've made with these rich, autumnal colours. 1. This set is so perfect for creating pretty and simple scenes like this Jan and the two colours of poppy really brighten it. Love the embossed background which compliments beautifully and that sentiment- makes me smile every time!
