Honey Bee for As You See It 219

At As You See It, we're already around the cycle of challenges to a sketch again. This one spoke to me of one of my favourite bundles from the January-June Mini Catalogue, Honey Bee.

I made this card a while ago, since I'm on holiday this week, and it was one of the first times I used the set. It was a bit of an exploration, just acquainting myself with what the set did.

One of the things that make this set extra special is that the Golden Honey Specialty DSP is available as a Saleabration item until the end of March. I worked out that if you bought the bundle, a pack of Whisper White card and some dimensionals (i.e. craftroom basics) you'd be just over the magic $110 mark to earn the paper free.

Being a first play around, I pretty much to the colours in the paper: black, white and gold. I did colour the bees with some Daffodil Delight and gave the bees in the DSP the same treatment. The Wink of Stella on the wings hasn't showed up quite as well as it could have but in real life, is charming.

The honeycomb die cut is just FABULOUS. I have a little stash of them cut already as they're just SO satisfying to cut out. I thought they looked better with a few of the cells of 'honey' returned to the matrix.

You can use this set, or any other, to show us how you see this sketch. You have until Wednesday 26 February, 11.55 p.m. PST, to show us. You can see what the rest of the team have done with it by visiting the As You See It Challenge site.

  1. I love this Jan - your card does a fabulous job of showing how these Sale-A-Bration papers co-ordinate so beautifully with the bee stamps and dies; I just love the detail on those bee wings, which I'm sure sparkle with the Wink of Stella and the gold honeycomb is so luxurious. A fab card!
