Freshly Made Sketches 169

Today, summer is definitely here and the only sensible thing to do in the heat of the afternoon is to take refuge in my craft room and contemplate the possibility of a swim later on. In the meantime, I've spent some time with the latest sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.

The thought of the rapidly wilting garden got me thinking of summer flowers and the roses that need dead-heading right now.

Originally, I was just going to spotlight the central panel but it looked better with the background more muted, so I added in a vellum layer. Because the centre panel is quite busy, I deliberately left the greeting section quite plain, just adding a button and twine and a single layer of flag.

Ingredients
Card: Elegant Eggplant, Whisper White, Vellum
Stamps: Altenew Painted Flowers, Clearly Besotted Many Mini Messages
Inks: Elegant Eggplant, Perfect Plum, Wild Wasabi, Black
Other: Perfect Plum marker to colour the rosebuds, Perfect Plum mini-brads, Perfect Plum button, Linen twine, Circle framelits, dimensionals to lift the circle panel.

  1. I love how you used the spotlight technique with this stamp set. It is really beautiful. Love the colors, too. Thanks for sharing with us at Freshly Made Sketches!

  2. This is gorgeous and love the use of the vellum, really makes the middle panel of flowers pop!! This is one of my favourite stamp sets, was using it for everything for a while there. Now I've seen this I might have to dust it off and give it a run around the block, thanks for the inspiration!!

    1. Thanks Shona. I haven't used the set much but really enjoyed using it for this. It's a different style fo stamp and a bit hard for me at first as I'm usually a fairly clean, colour-inside-the-lines kind of person! But I do love the impressionistic result.
