Calming Camellia for Sunday Stamps 276

I was delighted to finally get Calming Camellia, the hostess set you can earn for free with an order of $575. What an absolute beauty it is! It's got all the fine detailing we expect from a DistINKtive stamp and a wonderful vintage vibe.

I used the sketch at Sunday Stamps as inspiration to show it off.

For the background, I repeat stamped the large camellia image in Mossy Meadow on Very Vanilla, then toned it down with a layer of vellum.

For the central panel, I started with a small piece of Very Vanilla and stamped the large camellia stamp in the top left and bottom right with Mossy Meadow. After colouring them with Stampin' Blends, I added in some of the scroll stamps, again in Mossy Meadow.

The sentiment was cut using the label die from All Dressed Up dies. A few Basic Rhinestone Jewels finished it all off.

Friends are Like Seashells for Stampin' Fancy Friday

Late last year I was delighted to be invited to join the Stampin' Fancy Friday team. This group of amazing crafters are all either current or past members of the Stampin' Up! Artisan Design Team. Each month, we have a theme and the team's contributions appear on Instagram over the following month. If you're not already following Stampin' Fancy Friday on IG, do so for a crop of monthly inspiration.

This month, the theme is 'a favourite suite from the January-June Mini-Catalogue'. Well, my hands down favourite is the Sand&Sea suite and as I'm holidaying at my favourite beach this week, I feel the love even more!

My project was posted on IG today, so I'm blogging it for those of you who might not have seen it there, or who want to know more about it.

First up, a word about the Sand&Sea suite. If you're a beach lover, card-maker or scrapbooker this is the perfect suite. Amazing DSP, stickers, a fabulous embossing folder, opalescent paper, a stamp and die bundle, and opal embellishments: everything you need for a coastal themed project. Best of all the stamps, embossing folder and dies match up perfectly. You can order all or any of it from me by clicking the SHOP NOW button in the sidebar - at least, as long as you live in New Zealand.

The other thing I love about this suite is the way it mixes in with products I already have, thereby giving them new life. The Pinewood Planks 3D embossing folder is a perfect match, as is the ever-useful Linen Thread.

I've used Basic Gray  to stamp outlines and the sentiment because it defines - but with just a shade softer focus than the ever-reliable Tuxedo Black.

I've used Stampin' Blends to colour the sand dollar, starfish and sea shells. The seaweed is cut down from the large die, using Soft Sea Foam.  The advantage of the die and embossing folder coordinating is evident here as the seaweed has extra texture added to it as I embossed the die cut before cutting out the seaweed portions to add to this cluster.

In this closer shot you can also see the lovely pearliness of the Opal Rounds.  They're lovely in this context but they work beautifully with any set.

And just a reminder - if you haven't followed Stampin' Fancy Friday on IG, then do so now so you don't miss out on more great monthly inspiration. 😀

To A Wild Rose Retro Rubber 138

This week, it's everyone's favourite at Retro Rubber - Anything Goes. Of course, since this is Retro Rubber, we do still require you to use at least one stamp that's older than a year and to tell us the approximate age of your retro stamps.

To A Wild Rose and Very Versailles are both sets that first appeared in the 2019-20 Annual Catalogue and so are both a year old. In fact, the only new product in this card is the embossing folder, which is one half of the Greenery duo of folders from this year's catalogue.

I used the outline stamps from To A Wild Rose and coloured them using Stampin' Blends. I used various die cuts from the coordinating die set to build up the floral cluster.

One of my favourite stamps is the script stamp from Very Versailles, which I stamped off in Sahara Sand to create part of the background.

The finishing touch was the addition of some of the Red Rhinestone Basic Jewels,  a product I had forgotten I had. So glad that I found them!

We'd love to see what you have to show us with your retro stamps. Visit the Retro Rubber Challenge site to see what the rest of the design team have done and to join up your entry.
