Regal Flora et al for The Paper Players 719

I can't believe that this is the last challenge of 2024 at The Paper Players! It feels as though it was only last month that it was Christmas! I hope that all of you have a happy and safe Christmas and get to enjoy lots of time with your family and friends.

We'll be re-starting challenges on January 12.

This challenge, from Ann, is so pretty! Black and White are free colours. You must use all three colours of the challenge and you can add another neutral of your choice. I've used a touch of Crumb Cake.

I love these colours but it was hard to see past Christmas with them. I think that this will be my LAST Christmas card of the year. 😀

I feel as though it's a Regal Flora card - maybe because of the Regal Winter DSP I've used. Really, this card uses an eclectic mix of things including: Regal Flora dies for the label, Regal Winter DSP (very Christmassy, for a non-Christmas collection), Distressed Tile 3D embossing folder (my favourite), Reindeer Fun dies for the holly leaves and berries, Lifetime of Love dies for the Crumb Cake foliage and Greetings of the Season for the sentiment.

The thing I like the best is the holly leaves. I cut them from Fluid 100 Watercolour Paper then water-coloured them with Pretty Peacock ink and a Water Painter. When they were dry, I painted over them using some of the gold Pearlised Enamel Effects Metallics. I like that golden glow that resulted.

The embellishments are lovely: Pretty Peacock Adhesive Foiled Gems.

We'd all love to see what you do with these colours. You can see what the rest of the design team have done, and link up your entry, at The Paper Players page.

Reindeer Fun for The Paper Players 718

Wasn't Stef's sketch last week a lot of fun! Once again, there were just so many lovely creations in the gallery. It was a pleasure to look at them all.

This week, LeAnne has given us a very timely theme challenge: 'Be a Deer'.

My surprise like of the current catalogue is actually the  Reindeer Fun bundleI wasn't sure I'd like it but I bought it because it was the featured suite of the Creativity Abounds October Virtual Stamp Camp and I needed to have it to create projects for the Camp. As it turned out, I grew to really love it.

I think it was the bright busy-ness of the DSP that had given me some reservations about it - but I even grew to like that!

For this card, I went soft and gentle. Even Christmas red and green has evolved into Soft Sea Foam and Pretty in Pink.

I cut the mother and baby deer from the Reindeer Days DSP using a die from the set. Another of the dies gave me this lovely 'glimpses through the trees' aperture. I stamped some stars in Soft Sea Foam in the window.

I partially embossed the card front with the Forever Plaid 3D embossing folder before attaching it to the Soft Sea Foam mat.

Then it was a simple matter to attach the deer on dimensionals and to stamp the Pretty in Pink sentiment. Slightly less simple was cutting the sentiment with one of the Stylish Shapes banners, since I had to extend it to be long enough. It only took two goes! 😁

The finishing touch was three Pretty in Pink shimmer gems.

We'd all love to see your take on 'Be a Deer.' You can see what the rest of the design team have done, and link up your entry, at The Paper Players page.

Reindeer Fun for The Paper Players 716

Time is certainly zipping by - it's not only time for a new challenge at The Paper Players but it's getting very, very close to Christmas. Our hostess this week, Jaydee is getting us into the Christmas swing for sure with this CLEAN and SIMPLE theme challenge. First though, I'd like to say how much I enjoyed looking at all the creations for Claire's bright and fun colour challenge last week. Great work, everyone!

In general, I tend to be happiest when I'm creating more towards the Clean and Simple end of the cardmaking spectrum so I enjoyed this challenge.

If you're wondering about Clean and Simple, at The Paper Players we mean that we'd like to see projects that have a lot of open white space, few layers and few embellishments. That can be quite a challenge, even for our design team! (Especially when we go off and create and miss seeing the CAS part of the instruction - I've done that at least once! 😄)

Believe it or not, this card is created with the Reindeer Fun bundle. One of the things I most enjoy about this bundle is that while you can have as many prancing, flying reindeer as you like, there's plenty to play with without them too! And the sentiments are just great - love this 'Merry Christmas'!

I also enjoyed the chance to pair it up with another Christmas favourite of mine, the Christmas Tidings embossing folder. Sadly, it's retired now if you were hoping to add it to your stash but if you still have it in yours - don't forget to get it out and give it a run. If you don't have it, you could use whatever Christmassy folder you have. If I didn't use this one, I'd use the Forever Plaid 3D embossing folder.

To make the presents, I used some scraps from the Take A Bow DSP stack and the Festive Glimmer Paper pack. To jazz them up, I did add three adhesive Peppermint Dots (probably not strictly CAS), while the sentiment was cut using one of the banners from Stylish Shapes.

We'd all love to see your Clean and Simple Christmas projects. You can see what the rest of the design team have done, and link up your entry, at The Paper Players page.

Reindeer Fun for Freshly Made Sketches 655

I finished cutting the kits for my weekend card class, so it was time for some relaxation! I turned to the latest sketch at Freshly Made Sketches for some inspiration.

I've been doing a lot with the Reindeer Fun bundle, since I'm involved in the Creativity Abounds Virtual Stamp Camp next month. The thing that surprised me the most with the set (apart from how much fun I've had with it) is that you can do so much with it that doesn't involve a single reindeer!

The wee gift dies are so cute. I've used scraps of Take A Bow DSP to make the gifts and made the bows from scraps of matching plains: Real Red, Granny Apple Green and Garden Green,

To add to the sense of festivity, I gave the bows a lick of Wink of Stella. The background is embossed with the Forever Plaid 3D Embossing Folder - isn't it a beauty? Useful all year round, even if it appeared as part of a Christmas suite. 😀

The finishing touch was the addition of a few Adhesive Backed Peppermints - they look good enough to eat!

This is such a great sketch. I have an idea or two for some other interpretations of it too.

Reindeer Fun for The Paper Players 707

Welcome to a new week at The Paper Players. Ann has chosen the Clean and Simple Theme this week - back to nature: any plant or animal.

Elizabeth's bright and cheerful colour combination brought out some great entries to the gallery.

Full confession here. I made my card, then saw the small print: CLEAN and SIMPLE. Hmmm.

I decided that the card just sneaked into the CAS category, especially since at The Paper Players we are not absolute minimalists in our idea of Clean and Simple. I think if I'd gone in with the Real Red and White Adhesive Peppermint Dots, I might well have disqualified myself though!

I was playing with the Reindeer Fun bundle. I cut the circle-with-trees dies from the Basic White card front, then white embossed the stars around the top of the card. Then I added in some Pool Party Ink with a blending brush.

I stamped the sentiment in Real Red, then attached a piece of DSP from Reindeer Days which featured a cute reindeer behind the cut out.

And really, that's all there is to it. Easy, peasy!

We look forward to seeing what you do with Joanne's sketch. You can see what the rest of the design team have done, and link up your entry, at The Paper Players page.

Reindeer Fun for As You See It 332

Welcome to the latest challenge at As You See It, where we're back to the start of our challenge roster - a sketch! It was great seeing what people came up with in the last Speed Challenge. Isn't it amazing to discover what can be done in a mere ten minutes!

I've been playing around a lot with the Reindeer Fun bundle, since it's the featured bundle for the upcoming Creativity Abounds Stamp Camp next month. I'd actually packed it all away having decided I'd give something else a turn for this DT card... but when I looked at the sketch it just seemed to me that the circle was a reindeer and the rectangle was a sentiment. So I got it all out again!

I embossed the Basic White card front with the Forever Plaid 3D embossing folder. Then I added a 4.5cm wide strip of DSP from the Reindeer Days pack.

The reindeer is fussy cut from one of the Reindeer Days DSP sheets - although some of them match the dies in the bundle, which is even better!

The sentiment is cut using the one of the dies from Nested Essentials and was stamped in Real Red. For the horizontal element, I used some Real Red and White Baker's Twine. The finishing touch was a trio of Peppermint dots. Adorable, aren't they?

The team and I would love to see your takes on this sketch. Visit the As You See It page to see what the rest of the team have done and to link up your entry. You can join in the challenge until Wednesday September 25, 11.59pm PST.

Creativity Abounds Get Ready for Stamp Camp!

Exciting times at Creativity Abounds as our next stamp camp draws near! This time, we're featuring the Reindeer Fun bundle. Each of the members of the team have put together one project for the tutorial bundle. We've all done a second project to share with you during Stamp Camp. That's 26 projects in total.

Usually on our monthly hops we give you a sneak peek of the tutorial project (that will still happen) and then we go on to give you a bonus project and tutorial on the same theme. This time we'll  be giving you a look at what the Stamp Camp Live project is going to be. You'll learn how to make it during the Camp.

This is the project I'll be sharing during the Stamp Camp. It's a very sweet fancy fold with a belly band.

And this is the card you'll receive a kit and instructions for in the tutorial bundle.

Here's a peek at the whole tutorial bundle.

Here's all the details about the camp and how you can get your invitation.
As you follow the hop, you'll see all the 26 projects you'll get to make!

Reindeer Fun for Freshly Made Sketches 652

This week's sketch at Freshly Made Sketches just shouted at me to use the new Reindeer Fun bundle. I think it was the circle feature that just made me think of the die cut that peeks through the trees at the beyond.

I cut the circular tree die from a piece of Basic White, then partially embossed it with the Forever Plaid 3D embossing folder.

I backed the die cut circle with a piece of DSP from the Reindeer Days pack. I like those stylised trees and they make a nice playground for the reindeer, which was die cut from one of the other designs in the pack.

I added in some of the Real Red and White Baker's Twine from the suite before adding the sentiment, stamped in Real Red. The card base is also Real Red.

Finally, I added a trio of the adorable Adhesive Peppermints. Aren't they great?

If you like this set, you might be interested in joining the Creativity Abounds Stamp Camp.

Reindeer Fun for CAS Colours & Sketches 543

I'm just like a kid in a lolly shop at present - so many things arrived in my pre-order box for the September-December Mini that I just don't know what to play with first! Soooo many lovely goodies. Not a bad place to be, really. 😀

Anyway, as I often do, when I'm looking for inspiration I turned to my favourite challenge sites. In this case, the sketch at CAS Colours & Sketches caught my eye.

While I usually like to play around with a sketch, this time I played it with a straight bat and made something just like the picture.

Not only that, but I went for completely traditional Christmas colours as well: Basic White, Shaded Spruce and Real Red.

These cute as little wreath and ribbon dies come from a sweet retro-feel bundle called Reindeer Fun. One of the things I like about it is that in addition to sweet reindeer images (think Bambi) you get all the little extras like the wreath, holly, gifts and a through-the-forest scene cut out die. A kind of one-stop Christmas shop! This bundle, plus some of the other elements of the suite, are the basis for the Creativity Abounds Virtual Stamp Camp in October, so make sure to check it out once the catalogue goes live on September 4.

The embossing folder is also from the forthcoming Mini and is called Forever Plaid. If you're a scrapbooker you'll be especially interested as it's a giant folder - pretty much A5 size.

The cutie pie little 'Merry Christmas' is from another new set called Humble Home, which I'm sure you'll be seeing more of from me in the future as it's another gorgeous one! I've die cut it using Stylish Shapes.

The embellishments are some small Rhinestone Jewels.

Voila! A simple but sweet card. 😀

If you live in New Zealand and don't have a Stampin' Up Demonstrator, I'd love to be yours. Let me know if you'd like a copy of the new Mini Catalogue.
