As You See It 163 - Design Team Card

This week, there's a new sketch on offer at As You See It.

I'll admit that to begin with, those little banners had me a bit flummoxed. I've been running some extra Christmas card classes lately and I had out Holly Berry Happiness. Those boughs of holly started looking like the banner elements in the sketch and so an idea was born. Here's how it turned out.

There was a bit of fussy cutting involved on the holly, which I stamped in black and coloured using the new Stampin' Blends alcohol markers. I'm enjoying learning to use them, having never had alcohol markers before. They are now available for purchase.

You have until 11.55 p.m. Wednesday 29 November PST to join in and show us how you see the sketch. We love to see what you do.

If you live anywhere in New Zealand and don't have a Stampin' Up demonstrator, I'd love to help you with ideas and Stampin' Up products. Please message me through my Facebook page, linked in the sidebar of this blog or leave a comment below. CAS Colours and Sketches - DT call

This afternoon, I held a technique class with a lovely group of ladies. I'd demonstrated how to make faux metallic paper for them before they made a piece and used it for a Christmas card. While I was packing up, I decided that the demo piece was too good to waste so I used some of it for this card for the sketch at CAS Colours and Sketches this week.

I spent quite a bit of time choosing between Garden Green and Old Olive holly leaves. I wanted to bring out the green in the faux metallic DSP. There's a bit of green in the inking to add a touch of verdigris which I wanted to accentuate. I think the right choice was made, in the end.

Ingredients
Card: Very Vanilla, scraps of Old Olive, Gold foil card
Stamps: Holly Berry Happiness
Inks: Versamark, Pear Pizzazz, Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, Early Espresso, Tuxedo Black
Other: gold embossing powder, Holly embossing folder, Holly builder punch, Real Red enamel shapes, Pear Pizzazz stamp'n'write marker to highlight holly leaves.

CAS Colours and Sketches 192

I've spent the afternoon playing around with fancy things: copper and silver embossing, silver glimmer paper, baker's boxes and window sheets all in aid of some upcoming Christmas classes.

Yet all the while this lovely sketch at CAS Colours and Sketches seemed to be calling me to play with it and eventually, I succumbed to its charm.

Sometimes it's hard to beat simplicity: a classic colour combination, some stamping and lots of open space.

Thanks for a great sketch to play with this week.
