Gift Wrapped for CI 89

Welcome to a new challenge at Colour Inkspiration. This new challenge has a hint of Christmas about it but of course, let it take you in any direction that you like.

If you haven't played with us before, we are a group of Stampin' Up Demonstrators from the South Pacific. Challenges are shown and entered via our Facebook Group page. If you don't belong, and would like to, click here. Don't forget to answer the two easy questions you'll be asked when you ask to join the group.

Each challenge, Top Picks and a winner are chosen by the crew and the winner offered a chance to Guest Design with us for a future challenge.

If you don't have an exact challenge colour, feel free to replace it with whatever you have that's closest. Black, White, Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake and metallics are free colours, as are flesh toned Stampin' Blends.

These colours did get me into the Christmas swing and I've added some touches of gold to the mix as well.

The star act of the card is the Gift Wrapped bundle but Curvy Christmas is definitely a strong supporting act.

I stamped the pine bough from Curvy Christmas in Gray Granite to begin with. I added in some foliage in Just Jade and Shaded Spruce from the Curvy dies. The Just Jade stars are from Gift Wrapped. Together, these elements form a backdrop for the gold and Poppy Parade bow.

Once the stamping was complete, but before adding the die cuts, I embossed the Whisper White card front with the Dainty Diamonds embossing folder.

I gold embossed two of the large bows from Gift Wrapped onto Shimmery White card. Then I water-coloured them using Poppy Parade ink and the fine tipped Water Painter, punched them out and layered them slightly askew to give the bow more substance.

The sentiment is also gold embossed and popped up on dimensionals, like the top bow. Finally, I added in three Gilded Gems to carry on the gold touches.

We'd love to see what you make of these colours. You can add your project, see the other entries and look at the Design Team inspiration by clicking here.

Gift Wrapped for AYSI 237

Not so many people took up our speed challenge last week but the entries we did get were superb and they made choosing a winner difficult. This week, we're back to a sketch challenge.

I had Gift Wrapped out on my desk after prepping a card for my next class with it. It's a set that's really grown on me. It's easy to overlook in the catalogue but once you start playing, it opens up many options especially since it bundles with a punch that matches (along with some other things) the largest bows.

I took the diagonal of in the sketch to be a ribbon across a parcel. To help the idea that it's ribbon, not card, I embossed it using the Subtle embossing folder which gives it a lovely fabric grain. I'm not a big user of DSP but it's hard not to like the pretty vintage Christmas images in Toile Tidings, so that's standing in for the wrapping paper on this 'gift'.

I'm also very fond of the sentiments in Gift Wrapped, especially this Christmas salutation with its pretty font. I've added it as if it was a gift tag on my parcel. Finally, some fancying up of the cluster courtesy of the Poinsettia dies and some In Good Taste Elements.
